KB, you didn't by chance create a spreadsheet or some sort of tracking sheet for each of the seals your purchased did you?
I really want to use that info and create a new thread, a sort of part list, as we're all experiencing the same issues as you in regards to old rubber, plastic, and crappy parts in general. It would be great to create a sticky with part numbers, retrofits, updated parts compatibility, etc.
I also have a ton to contribute, and I'm sure many other users do as well...

No, I do not have a spreadsheet or a list of all the parts yet. Maybe at the end of the process I will make notes of which seals or plastics were perished
and replaced while I assembled the car.

I think I mentioned that I bought some AMG seats as well. They are stupendous! The side bolsters are what I felt my truck was missing and I hope to be able to get the lumbar going (as well as the thigh and torso bolsters as well) and I have ordered 70mm PC case fans to McGuyver some ventilation in them as well.
I've been trying to find the right connectors for some time as the salvager did not cut them...he just unplugged the seats and sold them without any peripherals or anything. Totally fine but has been troublesome. This past week I thought I'd take the module off of the CLS seats to the truck and see if the ISO connectors worked...if they were the same shape and size.
They are.
Finally, my question: why did you not use the AMG modules and instead move the G module over and solder the wires at the back? Did you have trouble finding pinout diagrams for the connectors and couldn't figure out which was which at the front? Was it just simpler to trace the wires to the motors and then splice them to the back pigtail from the G modules?

I purchased my seats without control modules and that was my intention since I knew I was going to use the seat control module from G500. The reason I decided to use G500 seat control module was because to me it was simpler to trace the wires from each motor to the appropriate plugs. What I did was cut plugs off the old G500 seats and salder them onto the proper wires that were traced back from each motors on AMG seat.
if you have the seat control modules and if you want all seat functions to work, that will require alot more custom wiring and looking through wire diagrams. I'm sure it's possible I just don't know how much work it requires .
Oh, and as far as wire plugs that you are missing from that AMG seat control module, that's probably gonna be a problem. What you might have to do is go to a local wrecking yard that has a vehicle with similar seats and see if they will let you cut the plugs off the wiring harness or you might just have to buy part of the wiring harness from them. Also maybe you can find one from eBay...

I've since moved the modules around and discovered that the plugs actually fit. I figured you did what you did because the plugs in fact were not compatible...and I assumed it was my problem as well. I took a module from the AMG seats and ran it to the truck, plugged it in and heard a pop. Great...fuse or relay, right?
Fuse. 40A! Now I'm not sure if it is because the path inside the module creates a short or because I didn't have a load on the module when I hooked it up to the truck. I imagine it is the former.
I've scoured the whole web for pinout diagrams for the two modules and have come up empty. Such a frustrating place to be. I think I'll have to bench test each pin with a fused 12v battery or benchtop voltage supply to see which does what on the AMG seats. I'd give at least $18 to the guy that put the whole CLS seat setup in the G shown in this thread to find out how/if they got the seats going.

As for the CLS seat setup that was done in a photo I posted earlier in the thread, this was done in Moscow Russia. **I tell you, the custom things they do there to their vehicles is way beyond what most custom shops here are even willing to thing about doing.**

They actually love to put these front and rear BMW seats into a lot of different cars, I've seen them in Toyota Land Cruisers and older Range Rover's .
Those interior mods look great. Thanks for the photos. I would think there would be a cottage industry in the states to do this type of work. I suppose the cost of the G in the U.S. coupled with parts and labor costs here would put the total cost of ownership in the stratosphere. Guess I'll soldier on with my Designo leather and Alcantara options.
Honestly the cost of the G wagon over there is the same or even more. Parts cost is very similar to US. Labor cost is less than here, that's for sure. People love to tinker around with their cars over there and do custom modifications to the electronics and interiors. I think the main reason shops don't do these kinds of modifications here in the states is mainly labor cost (and also demand).
I love the rear seating set up on the red/black and black with blue stitching. Those 2 are how I would love to do mine, just matching my front factory Designo black interior...Looks like it gives so much room for the rear passengers..I love it!
Not long ago I found out that it's possible to remove the original accelerator pedal set up from the G500 and replace it with electronic accelerator from a newer 2000-2008 Mercedes S, CL or SL Class. My pedal came off of 2007 Mercedes S600. I removed my original pedal with the cable and accelerator control module thats located under the hood. Extended the wire with the plug from under the hood, into the cab. Attached the pedal to the floor. * The original control module plug fits perfectly into the new accelerator pedal plug. Once everything is attached, you just plug it in and it works. No computer reprogramming is needs. It's plug-and-play.
**Brake pedal will get its cover replaced to match the new accelerator pedal**

Another neat "find". Project is coming together nicely. Keep at it. I continue to be fascinated by this build.

Today I installed glass sunroof assembly from Mercedes W140. Couple of things to keep in mind when doing this swap. Front end of the glass on W140 has a little bit more of a curvature/bump in the middle. To address that issue I had to push up on the front of the roof (sunroof edge) in order to curve the sheet metal to match the glass curvature. I did it gently a dozen times in order not to damage the sheet-metal. I got it to curve a little bit, but it probably need a little bit more, but I'm OK with the current results.
Both sunroofs have identical structural design and besides the glass curvature there were no other issues.
Took me about 5 hours for the swap. I love the result. Once the vehicle is painted and the sunroof seal is installed I might adjust it just a little bit more ( or I might just leave it as is).
Man, that is awesome!! I always wondered why they didn't offer a glass sunroof. Being an old "hot rodder" I like little custom touches that make a vehicle unique and personalized. I know I don't have to tell you this but after moving that sheet metal around be sure you end up with good water tight seals. Wouldn't want any leaks spoiling this great build. Keep at it...I've become an addicted follower of this thread.

Please don't take this as a criticism...but just wish there was more knowledge-sharing around part numbers and specific "how-to" descriptions.
