Yes, they are designed to fit any Mercedes that came standard with the standing hood ornament (and optioned for flat hood badge)...i.e. if there is a Luxury version of the car, then this will fit. This will not fit cars with exclusive flat badges, e.g. SL and GL and M

So I finally went down to the dealership to have something else done and while I was there I asked the install team to install the new hood emblem. It looked great for a whole 15 minutes before sailing into the air on my ride home. When I called the dealership they assured me they installed correctly and that the issue was not to do with the install process or my w204 - - so I reached out to the company I purchased from but they don't seem too interested in providing me with the replacement even though the whole incident was caught on my dash cam....( or at least for the moment - maybe when they see the video they will see I wasn't lying)
Has anyone else had the same issue (W204 specifically )

I just test fitted my black emblem that I picked up here on the forum and it won't fully clip into place and the badge isn't aligned perfectly straight. Only the right side fully clicks in, the left side won't click all the way - it does look like it's locked into place visually however.
I know it's not an install issue because when I swap my OEM blue badge on it clicks into place perfectly.
I honestly think I received a defective emblem... people may want to double check to make sure the emblem is fully secure.

Unfortunately we are unable to watch the video because it has been disabled bi internet security. However even if we were able to watch the video, that proves nothing more than the fact that the emblem flew off. It does not provide proof of a defective part.
Also, if as they told you the technician was a qualified senior tech, he should have inspected the part before installation. In doing so, he would have noticed the defect in the part and informed you of said defect. That way you could have informed us of this and we could have handled it from there. The fact that he installed it without saying anything in regard to it being defective leads me to believe that there was no defect in the part when he installed it.
It is true that parts can be defective after install, however those parts are mechanical parts, or electrical parts that can break down on their own. Not stationary parts that have no moving components. Those types of parts typically only fail if they have been improperly installed, or due to some type of external impact.
Although I would like to help you out here, I cannot justify providing you with a free replacement based on this information.
Thank you

i will steer clear of mbpartscenter.com for sure if they don't make this right...
write them back and explain the legal doctrine of res ipsa loquitur,
also advise them that the loss of goodwill for their business will be greater than the cost of them replacing the part.
BTW mbpartscenter is actually Mercedes Benz of Scottsdale out in Scottsdale, Arizona, 4725 N Scottsdale Road Scottsdale, Arizona, 85251
go ahead and write them a nasty letter and send them the video on a CD with a tracking number. also send a copy of the letter to MB headquarters in NJ with a copy of the video.
dont let them get away with this. these guys are rolling in money and they could replace for free if they wanted.

I don't like the black one anymore..I put the chrome one back on.. the black one looks to repetitive, like a small version of the star in the grill.. the chrome with the blue ring breaks it up a little

Hey Alex,
I just saw your e-mail, but I am out of the office and cannot reply remotely. I had one other customer with the issue and we replaced it for him so I do think there may be a few with issues, but we sold a ton and haven't had any other complaints. I will send you out another one and rswaltz drop me a PM and I will help you out as well.

As much as you may not want to hear it, I can sorta agree with the vendor. Mine could have done the same thing as yours if I had not taken time to make sure it was installed correctly and it was 100% secure. Mine sat in a little crooked at first and I could see how it would have flown off with road impact and wind, had I not secured it properly. Was the part an OEM genuine part, or was it aftermarket?

But you are right, it had nothing to do with the installation, it was totally the part's fault.

these parts held in with springs tend to pop out sometimes if the only installation requirement is that you push it in with force.
its a poorly designed part so MB probably expects this to happen. i wonder how many millions they saved in production value.
go with the old school star, it definitely wont fly out like that and it reeks of class. someone should make it in black chrome and matte though.
