Anyone's E63 ride rough and too stiff?

The unit is more than just adding two gears to the AMG Speedshift MCT-7, because the engineers had to modify numerous hardware components to suit the two extra gears. Furthermore, software changes and calibrations had to be performed to ensure optimal operation.
The result is a transmission that can provide “extremely short shift times,” which were not released by Daimler at the moment when the Mercedes-AMG E 63 was officially announced. We expect to find out more about it as the Mercedes-AMG E 63 reaches the market.
Just like the unit that came before it, the AMG Speedshift MCT 9 can perform multiple downshifts at once with a fast operation. The double-declutch function remains present, as does the launch control feature (called RaceStart in full caps), which is now easier to activate.
A significant addition is the introduction of a coasting function, which opens the clutch when the car is driving at speeds between 60 (40mph) and 160 km/h (99mph) without any throttle action. The result is that the vehicle saves fuel without any effort from the driver.

It's like saying the new 4.0 V8 is technically the same as the 5.5 V8 because it has 8 cylinders and two turbos, which is kind of true but can be different in reality.
There is 10 years of development between 7G and 9G.
I have spoken to the head of tech at my local MB and from what I understood, the 9G is massively more complex.
There is one thing I do not understand though..
Why is there the gear selector on the right side of the steering wheel and not on the center console?
Cars with MCTs always have the AMG center console gear selector.
How about this? Go to transmissions and read .. there is no 9G MCT.. just 9G tq converter AMG tuned transmission.

It's just a selector, and doing so frees up the space on the center console. However, I'm a nostalgic person who still likes the gear lever on the center console because it's just more cool looking.

I don't think the S-Class style selector is suitable for racing because you might accidentally hit the lever and switch to Neutral.
My point was maybe this selector is not compatible with MCT trans so the W213 E63 doesn't have 9G MCT, simply because there is no 9G MCT.

Ok, well I see why we had our differing opinions. I really wish you were right as I'd much prefer a torque converter over the MCT, but by all accounts the new transmission is the same one with some updates and two gears added. It had a LOT of shortcomings so I hope they got them all worked out in this version.

Can you check production date = DOT code on the side wall?
My 2c: once upon a time bought tires from tire rack to save money. Turns out "brand new tires" were almost 5 years old and ride was like on wooden wheels...

I think it all depends on your perspective. I've got an ML350, a '14 e63 wagon, and a 991.1 C4S with SPASM. I think the wagon is quite comfortable, but I also don't think my C4S is harsh at all either. The ML350 is the most comfortable, but the other too are comfortable IMO too (just not as comfortable). It all depends on what you like and what you're expecting.

To add a very late reply to this thread, I too feel my E63's ride is way too harsh. I recently acquired a 2008 E63 which I thought would be a dream car, only to find that the ride is incredibly harsh. It pains me to say this, but (as of now) I like my 2009 E550 better. Both are factory other than AMG 19s (on both), and the E550 feels like a cloud compared to my E63. And yes, I'm aware the E63 is more of a sports car and feeling the road, etc. but I feel like I'm bouncing around in a slammed Honda. It sucks because I still think the W211 E63 is a gorgeous car 10+ years later, but the ride is just not there.
Can anyone chime in about what parts might be contributing to an excessively rough ride? It's got about 80K mi on it and my mechanic said it looked extremely well maintained. The only thing I can think of is that it might be suspension parts that need replacing. Btw I did drive it with it's factory 18" AMG wheels and I remember thinking the same thing. I know 19s doesn't help the cause, but it still feels pretty much the same, so it's not the extra inch that's the issue.

have airmatic?
i had a 2014 e550 sedan and now a 2014 e63S and even in comfort mode the 63 is teeth chattering compared to the e550 ...without driving your e63 I can't of course say for sure but sometimes it is what it is
also going to UHP all season tires softened my e63 ride from having summer only tires
also what's your tire pressure

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
The problem, especially pre 14, is that...
The shocks are just way, way overcooked. MB engineers just have not understood the roughness of our roads. They are also designed to a price, being Monroes for crying out loud. A set of properly valved Bilsteins would make all the difference. Alas, there is no alternative from ANY manufacturer.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
My 2012 amg rode better than my 2018 amg. My 2019 e450 Cabriolet with the amg line and no air suspension rides like a S class. I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

how many miles on the e63? Maybe you just need new shocks ... springs wouldn't likely contribute unless there are lower aftermarket ones. Did your e550

other than letting some air out of the tires, I'm not sure.
before 2014, the cars with performance pack option would have stiffer ride and more power. this option became the S model starting with 2014.
I had a 2010 e63 without performance option and I think it rode nicer. I can't do a direct comparison right now since I drove the '10 in the summer and only had my current one in winter.
