Has anyone removed the plastic chrome effect covers on door handles to wrap Gloss black or is there any OEM options for this? AMG C63S Coupe
I saw your other thread about blacking out the grill... And I'm about to do a the same stuff to my car...
I've got a polar white sedan. And am dropping the car off at a shop next week to:
Paint grill gloss black
Paint all emblems/badges gloss black
Wrap the spoiler and door handles gloss black
Powder coat the wheels gloss black
Also gonna wrap the trunk chrome strip... White or black, haven't decided yet.
In any case, I don't think they're gonna remove those handle pieces first.
Are you doing the work yourself?
If not, just find a local shop and let them deal with it.
But get a few quotes first. I've found that the price range, for the same work, really runs the gamut.
I like a challenge just removed and fitted my Edition 1 Gloss Black Rear boot spoiler today, and fitted the rear side flics last week.
So next up was Grill and also bonnet badge in black as well.
Would be good to see your before and after pics that would be great

Off all the Badges/Emblems, the bonnet badge is the easiest to remove and replace. Just squeeze the springs together.
Thanks for the video , I found this thread it seems the plastic chrome part is either glued or bonded to the handle that is a pity as if I was wrapping them I would have wanted them off completely I do myself. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...les-apart.html

OK so I took the plunge and had a go at removing the handles a few weekends ago.
REALLY easy job. Only took me about an hour to do both (second attempt at wrapping).
As in the video the handles come off without much hassle. I took lots of precautions with masking tape and microfibre cloths but did'nt ready need to as all the parts are plastic.
The chrome parts are just clipped and screwed to the main body of the handles. Very easy to get off and wrap.
Once covered it all goes back together very easily.

Are you saying the chrome pieces come off the rest of the handle?
Did you remove the handle first, or were you able to take off the chrome with the handle being attached to the car?
You have to remove the handle. Its as easy as loosening some bolts and its off.
Just follow the video above.
Remove grommet in the door.
Loosen the bold behind it with an allen key (dont remember which size, but dont worry it wont come out and drop in the door, so just keep turning until you feel resistance).
The handle will then pull out (push forwards then pull out).
On each handle you will find the plastic pieces are clipped and screwed on with torx bolts. Remove the bolts and it all unclips.
The 2 parts then just come away.
As the chrome part houses none of the keyless sensors the wrap doesn't effect locking and unlocking.
If you do have keyless you will find the hidden lock barrel in the driver handle. Just remove the key from your key fob insert it and the cover pops off. You will see what I mean when you have the handle off the car.
I just tackled this and made a complete video of the process, including chrome removal from handle. Just waiting for it to upload.
At least on 2018 GLC43, after removing handle from car (just like in other video here), chrome is attached to handle by 2 small torx screws. Not glue. Chrome removes easily, but there is a notch and foot holding the pieces together that would be easy to break so take care sliding them apart. Also, door handle screw DOES NOT back all the way out and is a torx20.
