12.3@114mph - C43 with BMS JB1
Was hoping to get more clean runs, but the track was packed with too many fluid spills, cleanups, a flip-over and waiting in between. Anywho, below are my best runs of the night. I feel it has a slight flat-spot mid-range, otherwise

I did Roll Racing today @ E-town, all back to back runs. One thing I noticed, this car is more consistent running back to back vs. long cool-down periods. Most interesting run was vs. a tuned C63s, very close from the start until the 1/8, after that > >> >>>

Thanks, based on a few calculations (averaging E.T.s, trap speeds/weight) and compared to the stock 367hp, the car is making around 65hp over stock. BMS claims 46 over stock on map1/91 octane, this is map2/93+ octane.
Besides removing the top speed limiter, a full 93 octane tune should be able to make more. However, based on the results, I can't justify the 2k price tag of a full tune.
This is what I use for hp calculations http://wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php I plug in my lowest and highest E.Ts/weight and Trap speeds/weight and average everything.

You really can't go wrong of the big three. AMR, EC or OE. Call each one and see if they'll work a deal with you. Usually they try to help and discount advertised prices.

Based on my own research and my current times, I won't even consider the latest two; as for the first one, it's overpriced. We drive a ~60k car, it's not a Ferrari or McLaren. As far as I know, none of them actually calibrate/tune our ECU, they just flash a canned tune in it that shouldn't cost more than $600-800. However, if people are willing to pay, why not!

How does the car feel in day to day driving? Can you feel the increased power? I'm getting into that 18 month funk with my car. I think it's time to make some improvements, and JB1 is priced nicely.

This was the way it was done 10-15yrs ago, all dyno runs with A/F tailored to your specific vehicle, canned tunes will never be as good. Its like getting a custom tailored suite or an off the rack suite- which will fit better?
BTW those are some solid numbers your running!

That is very impressive. 12+ MPH increase in the trap speed over stock is a good bump. I was looking over Dinan's new programmer (you know the $1400 one), and noticed it looks remarkably similar to the BMS JB1, with the same sensor hookups. The Dinan unit claims 57HP increase, and if these units both basically do the same thing you calculations don't surprise me.

BMS with map 1 (designed for 91 octane) with 93 in tank, 12.5@111mph https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...ack-times.html
12.3@114mph was with BMS map2 93+ octane.
Yes, I could feel the increase in power immediately! I picked up the unit used from a local forum member, drove home, opened the hood and waited 15 minutes for the ECU to sleep (per BMS instructions). At this point it was dark out, I was too lazy to swap cars in the garage and I was too anxious to install it. In the driveway with a long screw driver, and few zip ties and my son holding the flashlight, 15 minutes later I was done and went out for a ride. My first impression was, wow, this thing is making at least 40 more HP, the entire power band improved.
This was on map2 on the way to the track
That's correct they are canned tunes every car runs slightly differently and mods add to that factor and it changes even more. I have BMC air filters and AWE catback and plan on 200 Cel downpipes, so a canned tune won't get me the best bang out of my mods. That is why a company like AMR has a custom dyno tune available, where they run your vehicle on the dyno and they custom tune to your vehicles characteristics. Canned tunes are a ballpark upgrade based on estimated figures of their test mule, custom tune is off your specific vehicle.

Hey 18Bora,
Which color connectors did you instal? The brown connector is supposed to be optional and somewhat difficult to access. Did you post up anything on the BMS forum? There isn't much M276 feedback over there at the moment.

I actually called AMR asking about their dyno tune, it's not any different than the mail-in tune. According to AMR, they just run the car on the dyno to make sure everything is OK and nothing is wrong with your car, no boost leaks, etc.. Other than that, it's the same tune, you just get a dyno sheet with it.

Just an FYI - off topic, but Eurocharged is going to be releasing their V2 shortly. My car is one of the test cars and I made 405WHP and 456WTQ - tested and SOLID. I'm making approx 90WHP and 120WTQ which is now matching what AMR is claiming.
Good luck with your decision.

There is really no value in dyno tuning your car unless you have a bunch of work done under the hood. It's nice to dyno to see the power gains your car made against a baseline, but I would believe any of these companies are making the most power they'll make with their off the shelf.

18bora - I saw a couple of your post on the N54tech forums. Did you ever adjust the setting on the custom maps yet? I wish Terry would show more interest for our platform as I really like the JB1 and the user interface. I got down-pipes (not installed) and I was wondering if I played around with the settings could I actually just adjust a custom map for them. I would experiment but not trying to blow up my engine lol.
