What kind of bulb did you use? Does it have a 55w input? If it is, it should not burn your wires and melt your adaptors.

But if you use anything more than 55w input, this sort of thing can be expected....sorry man~ But you should be able to buy new adaptors from the dealer, I don't see them as something too expansive to replace.

I wish it was that easy, they told me I need to buy the whole lheadlight assembly for some outrageous price of 324.99 ouch!!!

Did not say the wattage on the bulbs or the packaging

I don't see why you have to buy the whole HeadLamp assembly when its just the adaptor that goes behind the bulb that is melted + fried a little bit of the wire.

Personally, I'll just go to another dealer, and head straight for the parts department. Ask them to look up the part # for the adaptor, if they have it......buy it and bring it to a regular autoshop that can just reconnect the wire with the adaptor that you bought. (This is really not that hard of a job for them to do)

Or Better yet......go to Pepboys or Autozone...places like that usually carry universal bulb adaptors.......in this case, your car probably takes a H7 bulb adaptor. It will probably be cheaper than OEM Mercedes part.

In the picture, I don't see any damage to your "HeadLamp Assembly", just a melted adaptor and a bad bulb. So paying $300 some dollars to repair it is crazy~

In the future make sure the bulb you decide to purchase take only 55w input, otherwise your adaptor will very likely to be melted again.

I had the same experience in my old 92 Sentra, I put in 80w input bulb Hyperwhite I bought from Ebay. It work brilliantly for first week...then my adaptor melted just like your.........I went to Pepboys and got my a universal 9004 adaptor and reconnect it with the wire and I had the problem fixed. In your case you have a Mercedes..........but a car is a car......same tachnique should be able to work.

Sorry for the long post...but I hate to see someone make $300 some dollars from you because of a melted adaptor.

Me too, I got mine off ebay about a year ago. As I recall, the wattage was a bit higher. I'm going to check mine before going home from work since I'll prolly have them on on the way home.

my hyperwhites are ok, almost 1 yr old

Just checked my hyperwhites and the housing last night. It all looks good and it's about 1 year old now. Guess the wattage makes a big difference... Good Luck All.

Sorry bout the car, but man you should have checked the bulbs before you bought them. I have those stupid 20 dollar bluish lights and they've been working fine for about a year now. So it doesnt really matter if the bulbs were cheap or not as long as you have the right watt

I'm using silverstars. I like them and they are DOT approved. I have had them now for about 2 months and no problems with the housing/wire harness. Its hard to tell if they are alot brighter though because I think the whiter light tricks the eyes to say they are brighter than they are. Easy purchase at Walmart.

I did go to the parts department, they can't get any parts for the inside, so I went to fry's and made my own connectors. It's a little ghetto, but know one will ever know

so what are the best/brightest bulbs to get, and are they brighter than oem while not melting anything in the light housing?

Uh Oh!

That sucks man, but make sure you use the correct wattage bulb...my cousin had the same prob with his 323ci...some fancy wiring work was done at my house by me and we actually reconnected the wires to the metal bracket and only had to buy the plastic casing...believe it or not yours dont look too,bad try to get the metal brackets out of the plastic casing and see if you can find the plastic part-replace the metal brackets in the new casing and see if that works its alot cheaper than buying a whole new assembly

p.s. if you want bright-get the Hella 10,000K H7 conversion kit,i got one and will post pics soon...well worth the $$$ bright as HELL :v
