Does 225/50/18 fit E350 Sport?

Found a great deal on 22/50-18 snow tires but wasn't sure if that is too much tire or not for the sport package. I was looking for 225/45 which I believe fits, but Im also not positive.

The tire size these cars come with for 18" wheels is 245/40-R18. This tire is 653.2 mm in diameter.

225/50-R18 would be 682.2 mm in diameter, i.e. about 4.4% bigger. This would put your speed off by that 4.4%, which is quite a lot.

I don't know if the bigger diameter would cause rubbing issues but just for the speed error I would not do it myself.

225/50-18 is 26.85" diameter tire and will not fit front of W212 E350. (We already know that 245/35-20 which is 26.75" diameter does not fit upfront). However, those lucky enough to have W212 E550 with aromatic only, can just squees it in.

Thanks for that info . Do you know the max diameter I can fit? Trying to fit the tallest most narrow snow tires on my 18x8.5.

The tallest tire you could fit is 26.5" diameter, which would mean 215/50-18, however it can not be fitted to 8.5" wide rim. The narrowest and at the same time the tallest tire that fits W212 and can be fitted onto 18x8.5 rim is 235/45-18.

I was thinking 225/45-18 diameter is barely larger than 245/40-18 and 225 seems to be the minimum width for a 8.5 wide rim. Did you get 235 because it fits the rim more appropriately ? Appreciate the help .

I did not say that I got 235/45-18. I said, that as per your inquiry, it is the tallest tire in 18" diameter that fits both W212 and 18x8.5 wheel. Yes 225/45-18 can be used.

Tomorrow i am receiving a set of 19s, and I am going to try and mount 235/40/19 in the front which is a 26.4" tire, and 265/35/19 which is a 26.3" tire in the rear. I am also installing lowering springs, i hope it works without rubbing.

I have 2014 e350 sport replaced 245/40/18 with 245/45/18 the front only touched the strut mount when turning as soon as the paint wore off (two short 10 mile drives ) has been fine.

Can you explain, "as soon as the paint wore off" Did the tires get damage or the strut mount bend?

I am planning on doing this asap. I am tired of buying tires. Just to clarify, I am just grinding piece of the strut bottom, that is the only clearance issue? Would it hit the fender lining or other suspension parts?
