is this guy on Crack?

So a buddy of mine is looking for a C43 (and he doesn't use the Internet much) so I decided to help and I ran into this Ad and could not believe the price, I mean don't get me wrong it has some nice and tasteful mods but the price is a bit

this is a special car, lots of money invested in it.
Renntech goodies ain't cheap.
wheels are from the SL60/70/72/73AMG cars, these are the nicest split wheels ever made, Sulaco had them on his car and bangs his head to the wall regretting he sold them!!

this is a MY2000 car, too bad the US cars never got the same goodies like us europeans have on our cars, especially the last MY2000 should have had extra toys

nostalgic people /collectors tend to pay the same money for a 124 E500 Limited or the E60AMG cars.
you get what ya pay for.
your buddy would be very happy about this car, but the pricetag will scare him away

Yes, he is smoking something. Car is way overpriced. I wonder how many times the Brooklyn Bridge was sold...

Overpriced in my opinion. Kind of reminds me of the people who go into the Shark Tank and value their company based on revenue in 5 years. It will sell for what it is worth right now, not what it may be worth in 5 or 10 years. If the mileage were super low, I might be more inclined to consider it to have some level of reason to the price. I love the mods and love the car, but it is a $16k-19k car in my opinion at best.

If theyre going to mod it that much the least they can do is get rid of that stupid looking wood dash and put the proper carbon look dash parts in...

MY2000 is a collector's item, i don't know why they decided to modify it. 1 of 25 in US and 1 of 7 black car with black interior.

There are plenty of 98 and 99 models to modify and swap them every-which-way, plus if you end up asking that price, at least put a 5.5 kompressor in it.

only two things I dislike about that black car is the price tag and mileage mismatch between donor engine and odometer.
other than that it must be a great car!

here's another mismatched odometer mileage - engine swapped car from Budapest in Hungary eürope
car looks very nice with big brakes.
price €24.500 euros is kinda high

I thought you were all about inflating C43 prices?

But yes, in all seriousness, although that car is definitely clean, he will never sell it for anything near that price. In fact, he would be lucky if he sold it for half that. Someone else already hit it right on the head...that car is worth maybe $16K max. But all good, he says he's in no rush to sell, so maybe after a few years he'll decide to bring the price down to something reasonable.

But since we're on the subject of people who've taken a few too many hits off the water bong, check out this outrageous ad.

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/6021935444.html

Again, while a clean car, worth about half the asking price. But hey, one can always dream!~

PS - I think this car actually belongs to a current member on here. If I recall correctly, he bought it in the Bay Area for like $12-14K and brought it down to So Cal.

Yeah, bit rich eh!! I paid $23,000 AUD for my C43 with 109,000klms on it, and at that time i couldve had a C32 for around $16,000-$25,000 or a C55 for $30,000-$45,000 and a C36 as low as $8,000 dollars.

C36s infact got as low as $5,000 here in the past 12 months, and i shouldve bought them all.

A W211 E55 can be had for under $20,000 now, but i havent looked for a while.

I almost bought a CL55 initially, $30,000 seemed like a steal for that car.

I think the biggest issue that drives prices on these newer higher rank AMGs here to such low values is the cost of some AMG specific parts is bloody rediculous, a set of front rotors for a CLS55 is well over $4,000 from what a dealer told me, and this is a dealer that sells at very fair prices...

Comparatively speaking, this is where the lesser models turn into bargains when you get them cheap, but id say people have started seeing this... Models like C36, C43, CLK55, C55, and the W210 E36 and E55 are all pretty simple sort of cars that seem to be incredibly reliable and expensive parts last a long time, hence prices on all but the E55 have all of a sudden jumped up a bit... Especially the C36 and E36, but the E36 is so damn rare and that probably accounts for it there.

No idea how many C36s came to Australia, im reasonably sure theyre ALL 4 speed auto, never seen a 5 speed. There was 60 C43s came here between 98 and 2000.

Why is everyone up in arms over the price these guys are asking? They may be high but shouldn't all c43 amg owners be at least a liiiiiiitle bit happy behind closed doors that these cars seem to finally going up in value? Obviously these two examples are extreme considering I just paid $2800 last month for my 99, but nonetheless it's not a terrible thing. They won't get the asking prices but they might get 60% of them.

a very small accident will salvage these cars out though. not necessarily fatal unless you are looking for a collector piece. anyway can always reflect that in the sale price. maybe this guy is unreasonable or unrealistic if it has been listed so long though. maybe after listing it for another year he will realize it is overpriced.

I dont think anyone is too concerned about it, its merely more of a mention of it than anything else.

I certainly dont care one bit if someone wants to ask a rediculous price, that is their call, no one elses.
