Rev Match Ecu Tune for Black Series?? - Yay or Nay?
Before I ask your opinion I'd like to give you some background on me and my Black.
I've owned my silver black series for about 6 years now and have put about 20k trouble free miles bringing the car's mileage to 56k.
It's not my only car and I recently had to make the decision whether to sell my 2015 Z06 or the Black to be able to afford the new 991.2 GT3 (in manual of course).
I've never really been into american performance cars but man these new fully loaded corvettes can really hold their own..
Anyway; both cars are at about the same value ($70k ish - maybe optimistic for the black) but the corvette is on it's way down and I believe the Black its way up.
The corvette doesn't feel anywhere near as special as the Black series so as much as I'll miss the Z06 I could have never given up on the black beauty.
SO.. I have this bone stock Black and am absolutely in love with it. I ONLY drive with traction control if it's raining so this thing ALWAYS puts a smile on my face. I usually go through a set of rear tires every 5k miles.. almost as if this thing was made to slide sideways lol
HOWEVER, I'm sure my main complaint with the car is similar to many of yours... the transmission
I know the 2012 C63 Black series uses the same transmission but is tuned a bit differently so has much quicker shifts and I believe matches revs quite nicely when down shifting.
I'm sure Mercedes could tune my ECU to the 2012 C Black specs OR could go with a company like Weistec's Rev Match Tune or something similar.
I am worried however it could have an adverse effect on the value of the CLK.. I would think the Mercedes Tune would make a future potential buyer (probably will never actually sell) more comfortable but might still scare away.
Also - would the tune cause the engine to wear faster?
What do you guys think?
Thanks
-Alan

Good questions. The black c63 is one of my favorite cars for sure, and we have owned a few of them.
The car does need a little more pep, and the tune sure does help with that. It won't have any adverse effect, minus the tire problem as indicated above.
We actually have locations in Austin and Houston if you wanna stop by and chat in person

Do you guys get Ralf and his partner to fly in fro the blip or do you use their software?
Sold the Z06 yesterday actually for $67k.. would've preferred 70k obviously but it was a quick sale and I didn't have to shell out $2k for new tires as I was expecting to be asked to.
The pain of the Z06 loss is heavy but definitely overshadowed by the excitement of a stick shift GT3
Did they do the install at Eurocharged Houston?
Did you HAVE to do the Eurocharged ECU tune for the throttle blip to work correctly?
Thanks

TCU tune can improve shifting time and add re matching but the hardware stay different.
I had the TCU, ECU + rev mathcing tune from Ralf on my previous CLK 63 (non BS) for more than 2 years without any issue.

No you don't need any ECU tune to make the TCU tune work,
Yes they did it at the Eurocharged location,

And Steve the owner of this company actually used to own Weistec so lots of credibility there.. I'm pretty excited
From what Ralf told me. They need to modify both ECU and the TCU.
CLK63 B(BS or not) have not this feature ON in software, so they modify standard (or optimise if you already have an tuned ECU) software with part of 63AMG software (with blip throttle feature as C63) to activate it. It is a merge software for ECU and TCU

Eurocharged V6 is the newest version of their ECU tune and it comes with a rev match feature but it is not as aggressive as I'd like it to be.. I suppose that's because I need the TCU too.
And this company Dime Racing is owned by Steve of Weistec. A few years ago Weistec would offer their clients TCU tunes by Ralf as well
If you are on the hunt to find the "best" one, its very subjective based on how you like your car to respond. To talk the owner or ride in a car that has each one of these Tuner's tune to fully understand what the tune could give your driving experience.
Best of luck!
