Best mod you can do to CLK63 Bs. Downshifts keeps the trans in the torque band and a must for track use.

I concur. This is a must have mod for the CLKBS. Especially fun for daily driving and must have for track use, as Jim noted above. Enjoy!

Does this actually SPEED UP the downshifts in any way, or just rev match them? Because while the rev matching is nice, one of my biggest complaints is the actual time delay in completing a downshift.

Also, does it do anything to speed up the up shifts?

Thank you.

Since the transmission is being decoupled during the downshift, it does speed up the downshift. The use of the paddle is also sped up with our software changes. Our software changes also speeds up the up shifts as well.

Please let us know how we can be of any assistance. Thank you.

If it's simple, why is it so pricey?

Simple if you know what your doing not so much if your experimenting on someone else's ecu's.
Not an OBDll plug in reprogram that go for $500.
I think your paying for their experience and knowledge and given the improvement I think it's fair deal.

The Rev Match was not simple to develop as it took 2009/10 code and interlaced with 2008 code within the ECU and TCU. It has been optimized over time. DIMERD has got it dialed in, IMHO.

Yes
I'm not very knowledgeable on this so I'll just ask - how does this tune compare, performance/effectiveness/longevity wise, to Renntech physically modifying the trans?

Making Physical modifications to the transmission allows for more power to be delivered through it, possibly increased line pressures for a more firm shift, and possibly increasing strength in components such as shafts.

Our rev matching upgrade among other things does increase line pressures, but it does it through calibrating the transmission control unit. It is not a physical change. That is really the only comparison to physically modifying the transmission.

Effectiveness, performance, and longevity is definitely increased with the upgrade. We are in essence updating the transmission to a newer car and allowing all components to properly work in your CLK.

We hope that helps. Thanks.

Do you have numbers indicating how much quicker this is than stock?

The stock CLK Black Series does not have any rev matching. The factory electronics and calibration do not blip the throttle bodies on a downshift. We are adding the throttle blip on the downshift. The purpose of this is to give you a very smooth downshift on deceleration that does not upset the car when on the brakes.

There is no real shift time comparison to be made in this case. Hopefully this helps. Thanks.
