Glow Plugs and Controller

Hi
I'm wondering if I should replace our glow plug controller (09). It's got a metal base and a plastic top.
First glow plug failed in say 18 months from new (replaced under warranty). Since then 4 more have failed, one replaced twice. At that stage I replaced them all (2 hadn't failed). I see another one has gone now. We've only done 90,000km. Glow plug failure warning is glow plug light stays on for a bit after starting. Replacing failed glow plug, the one with some resistance, corrects this. (NO I HAVEN'T GOT A CODE READER.)
So wondering if replacing the controller with part number 6429007701 - is this the latest version? Would the glow plugs give less trouble?
Thanks.

What is your model designation, 164.122 or 125?
