Distronic in rain

Driving in light mist and Distronic plus keeps saying sensors dirty. I can see it if heavy rain but just light mist. I did notice it will come back to life in about 2.5 min. Should it be that sensitive to light mist?

If your car is an 18 then idk but I have a 15 and I never once have gotten that message. Either something is wrong or maybe your sensor housing really is dirty.

Mine stops working when it is raining and gives that message, when the rain slows down it starts working again.

The light misting is actually worse as it covers the sensor and isn't heavy enough to wash off.

I agree the sensors are a little too sensitive, my old CL will do that in the rain, I'll get the distronic sensor dirty message after driving in rain for a while. Not too much you can do about it unfortunately.

This happens on every modern MB with Distronic in stronger rain or heavier snow. Rain reflects radar and will provide very irregular data to the software. When a threshold is reached, it is better to disable the feature then to provide false info.
If you shutdown the car and restart if will always start working again as the data is cleared.

Never in the S550 but I got a plenty of time in the g63, especially when driving thru puddles.

Nice one
My 2016–S550’s Distronic sensors disabled the cruise control while in deceleration mode while driving in a heavy rain today. I got the Radar Sensors Dirty message and the car started decelerating but not the Distronic braking that was engaged. The conditions were such that I had my Right foot hovering over the brake pedal and no harm done but.......

This is a shame because it is exactly these conditions where drivers need the most help.

Strange I’ve never had it happen on my 2019s yet. I had it happen on my 2018 amg and my 2012 amg. Maybe they improved the software on the 2019s? Seems like they improved so many other things.

Only in very heavy rain does my system give me that message. At that time, I WANT to be in control of the car anyway, so this is a non-issue to me.
