Thoughts as well as your input regarding this E420 posted on craigslist.
Buyer will let it go for 4K, which is still a bit high in my book as it does not come with a service history.
With exception of the electric antenna, everything is suppose to be in good working condition.

I think overall it looks very clean, but have no clue for how much they should go for?

I have no clue either how to value a 22 year old car but I always loved the E420 because it has almost as much power as the E500 but doesn't have the obvious wheel wells that give away the V8 power. I remember seeing one of those in the shop in Germany with a E280 badge. Imagine how much fun that owner had on the German highway teasing people thinking they were racing a car with about 100 horse power less than what it was?! They could have even put a E200 Diesel badge to make it look like it's got only 75HP! I find understatement much more fun than putting AMG signs on cars that aren't.
Anyways, that car does look like it was really well kept but I would still estimate at least 2K in repair because chances are that the owner gets rid of it to avoid future repair cost. I think the E420 had about 280HP which would get similar 0-60 numbers like today's E300 with a 2 liter 4cylinder, so of you're thinking about getting this car you must really love the W124 which is hard to put a price tag on, so I'd say go for it!

I would pay $2500-3000 max. I would not touch an older 124 without service history unless I just enjoyed restoring neglected cars or loved taking a gamble. My issue is that I love my classic Benzes and I would not drive one with small issues (aka - I would keep repairing it)
I had a 95 E420, 100k miles then and it ran like new. Beautifully made car and still felt like a modern car with good power (not fast but smooth and sounds great), smooth transmission and decent ride (keep the smaller wheels). BUT! things needed attention from time to time and some were expensive (wouldn't start once in a while - the best shop in New England couldn't troubleshoot, A/C went out - $7000 evaporator repair, A/C was never that cold in hot summer days, the odd rattles here and there).
I think I see a W124 in my future but it has to be a mint low mileage car that I just keep as a toy. Good thing is that even the mint low mileage cars are not that expensive anymore - $10K should get you a mint low mileage non 500E or Convertible W124.
By the way check these out (no affiliation with sellers)
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto...367279515.html - the owner has had it for sale for years now! The 300Es are sluggish by modern standard but are not dangerously slow.
http://hatchandsons.com/pages/sales/JB199/ - I love the coupes and the evaporator was just replaced! The twin cam M104 3.2 powered W124s are actually pretty quick, sounds really nice and doesn't feel that much different than an E420 in the city. It's at highway speeds where the E420 is clearly faster than the E320 (e.g. 60-80 acceleration)

I got almost $2000 in a trade in for mine. And although it was running very good, the body was only almost OK. I miss listening to the engine in idle, had a continuous noise like an electric motor.
Look for the Delphi harness under the hood and give the car a decently long test drive, to see if it goes in a limp mode.
