V7 Pinging!? Anybody else’s?
My 09, EC V7 sounds like it could be pinging at low rpms under load. Anybody else notice any strange noises that could possibly be tune relate, or have any advise?

iv had issues with the v7 since the official release , everything was sorted out but ( pinging issue ) mine happens under load as well. Very frustrating since 93oct is what we use here in New England.

Hi guys,
Just for you own info, on my V6 tune, i have been experiencing some kind of ping that sounds like continuous click at part and full throttle, 2nd and 3rd gears.
i thought it was the fuel even though i always fill with shell v power. So my last fill i added 108 octane booster.
Even with that i still get the clicking noise.
now im suspecting wether or not is detnation or not.
i may have to load the stock tune to really see what is going on.

How about you guys download the Torque Pro app (or something similiar), get a bluetooth OBD connector and log timing advance, rpm, air/fuel and do some pulls

Seems like there are a lot of cars that aren't taking well to the V7 tune. But the ones that do, really do take well to it.

I use dash command i also take out all the gps logging in settings. A dude on their forum was kind enough to make me a dashboard to monitor all the stuff we need to see. i will get some stuff edited but for now here it is. it’s Tuxedo AMG

Wow that looks excellent. How are the logging capabilities? Can you set to a high refresh rate?

the refresh rate i believe is dependent on the ODBII dongle (i got the $20 foseal). when in this screen or in "data grid" live its pretty much spot on.if i only want to monitor 6 things it logs all kinda of useless stuff. in the shorter gears ill miss sometimes 200-500rpm of all data and in taller gears max like 300rpm. The app itself has been very helpful when my engine light came on for 02 and clearing codes and other functions. im pretty crazy about the car running right so im always looking at this. if you guys have any suggestions or anything please post up.

That app is good but no mode 6 data.
I use obdlink mode 6 shows you what cylinder miss fires and what is causing a pending code.loke my ow sensor.my tune is a tad rich.

Lean is mean... this does not surprise me there is only so much you can do to fuel trims and timing.
Very happy with my V5 tune though.

Funny I saw that new amg one pop up but was too busy of a screen to glance at and get the data I want.

So, email Jerry, he sent an updated file (within an hour) that he pulled some timing on, flashed it and took it out for a run, noise no longer present. I’ll keep y’all updated. So sad tho, the original tune had matured into an absolute beast of a tune, loved it, but not worth the potential damage. Hope this new file matures nicely as well! Thank you all for your input

For those having issues, copy and paste and add your info to see if anyone can lock up a trend

I don't think this tune is particularly lean...11.5-11.6 at WOT doesn't seem lean to me.

This all sounds wonderful. Where do I sign up for the free engine damage with my tune. Can I get one with extra pings.
