Any MUST options/ codes I need to look for?

I am getting closer too buying a 2016 E63s. I sold my 335i and now have a condo I need to sell. Once that is done, onto my new car (currently driving my 2015 GTI).

I was looking at the market for 2016s and started looking at the option codes via a MB Vin decoder. Question: are there any MUST options I need to look out for? I know the cars come very well appointed but I was curious if there are any options I NEED to have.

Thanks in advance. Also, much thanks for all of the help and advice over the last few months. Vrodman and Peterubers have been especially helpful!

OK, so I first want to make clear that I am not picking on you wagon guys at all. I am simply curious what the strong attraction is for these. Is it a compromise for the wifey to allow you to get an AMG? lol Or is there a periodic need to carry a casket in the back?

In all seriousness though, what draws you wagon lovers to them? Honestly, I am just curious and interested to know.

Due to the front air dam riding lower than most curbs, I find the 360 degree camera most useful and would not purchase an E63 without one (also it make me look like I am much more skilled in backing into parking spaces!).

As to your question: "why a station wagon?": the storage is greater, the car is rarer, and it carries large dogs without harming any leather seating surfaces.

I have a lake house and I’m always carting **** back and forth. It’s like a very sporty pickup truck.

When in the car I can’t tell/feel it’s a wagon.

Ok if Wagon is not an option then here's some more tips to get back on track.

1) make sure it comes with the AMG wheels you like. The OEM factory wheels are damn expensive to change out after. New from the dealer they can run 1/6 to 1/8 the price of the whole car just for the rims.
2) get a CPO with extended factory warranty. Mine is good to 2022. That's the BEST option IMHO.
3) Distronic plus with steering assist - I *love* this I use it in stop and go and never get fatigued; long trips are so easy it just drives itself. I'm not an expert so maybe they all come with this? If not you need it.

I don’t know about this one. I looked at a wagon and tried my Newfoundland out in an E350 for size and realized it was not going to fly. Decided to keep the SUV and opt for the sedan. Fully agree on the uniqueness and storage though.

To OP. I have a 16 as well. Recommend that you download the sale collateral form that year since ti will tell you the options and packages.

Must have option / packages:
  1. Parking assist (360 camera) - if you live anywhere tight. or are afraid of curbs.
  2. Driver Assist package - distronic and most of the safety features.
  3. Night package OR exterior carbon fiber
  4. If you liek carbon fiber - interior carbon fiber trim (it was a $3k option as new and much more if you try to retrofit it now).

That's it - not that many more options. If you are an audiophile - look into the B&O music system as well.

And finally the Nirvana option - the carbon fiber engine cover. if your car has it - winner!

Avoid the B&O stereo option if you can. Parking and Driver assist packages should have both been standard options, because as far as I'm concerned they are a requirement for owning one of these cars.

Guessing it because he doesn't like having a big spare wheel in the middle of the trunk?

Yes. You can. But the spare (in the original car's configuration) is located on the top side of the trunk floor right in the middle of the cargo area. Just look at any listings that have B&O with pictures. You will see it. It is because the sub for the B&O is where our spares are.

Not sure you have that correct - you can actually fit a REAL front wheel and tire in the trunk:

Front wheel AND B&O

Hmmm

Maybe that is an afterward solution. Just go look at ads for E63's that have B&O. You will see in every trunk picture a spare smack dab in the center of the trunk. There have also been threads with guys b*tching about the spare with their B&O in other threads. So I'm not sure now what the hell is going on! LOL But go look at listings and you will see it. I am too lazy at the moment to find them, but I will look later.

2016 E63s Wagon - CCB & CF package
Agreed on the 360 view being a must. Driver assist package is cool too, though i wouldn't call it a must unless you like having all the “cool” gadgets. Personally, I have a lot of that stuff turned off. Disctronic is cool too, but not a must in my opinion once again. I very rarely use mine.

One thing I’d be mindful of that i havent seen mentioned is to make sure it’s a post 12/2015 build date. That will ensure you have Apple CarPlay capability. Little OBD plug will enable it on post 12/15 cars. I absolutely love it.

This. I lose about 1/3 of my trunk's usable space having to lug it around.

The poster in the thread you linked has a wagon. I can state, unequivocally, that a full size (which is larger than the collapsible spare) will not clear the sub inconveniently placed in the sedan's spare well.

Not sure about build dates. I have a 07/15 build date and it was fine with Vlad's ODB module.

No ****? The B&O subwoofer is different for sedans and wagon? Now that is truly something.....
