Steering Wheel Trim
I am trying to find replacement steering wheel trim for my 2012 C300 4Matic. Everywhere I have looked and entered my vehicles credentials, does not show the correct steering wheel trim. It shows trim that goes straight down to the bottom of the steering wheel. My steering wheel branches out at two 45's, not straight down. Can someone help me? My VIN is WDDGF8BB5CR202123
Why I need new trim
This is what my steering wheel looks like.

I have this issue and always wondered wtf was going on with that chrome trim. I thought it was me....but even that had me confused!

I may get a small bottle of Cyanoacrylate and try taking a needle and putting some under the section that is protruding up, then take a squeegee and see if I can get it to lay back down and stick. I can live with the bubbles for now, but the part that is sticking up caught my hand yesterday.
EDIT: I did get a bottle of Cyanoacrylate (AKA Super Glue) and used a needle to put a couple of drops under the two pieces sticking up then took a squeegee to them and they remained flush, so this worked as a short term fix. If I can not find the correct part, then I may order a can of spray that you use to spray plastic parts for plating (it makes the plastic conductive), remove the film and spray the plastic then use my small plating equipment and plate the plastic trim piece in nickle. I have found nickle plating to be very durable and I'm sure it would hold up much longer and better than the chrome film that Mercedes puts on the pieces.

i would just wrap it in vinyl, I'm on #2 and it bubbling. im ready to wrap it and never deal with it again lol.
this looks like the w204 luxury edition steering wheel
ill add i looked on car-part.com i found over 5 of the same steering wheel, i doubt they will just sell the trim but you can call places and see.
your best bet is vinyl wrap it and never have issues again.

Thanks MB Marco,
I'll just order some wrap and do that. The wrap is cheap. The conductive spray for plastic so I could nickle plate is $50 per can, so wrap it is!

I have a '14 C300 with the sport package and that is what mine looks like. I've been debating to wrap it or just splurge and get a carbon one so I never have to deal with in the future. I would be afraid that any defects would show through the wrap.

25th Car,
Right now my plan is to take the steering wheel apart and pull the chrome film off of the piece(s) that it is bubbling up on. Clean it thoroughly. Then wrap it with this:
I think that would look nice.

VViViD makes good working vinyl. I'm using their stuff in Black Chrome to get rid of the silver chrome on my car currently. I'm sure it will turn out! Keep us updated.

rowland99,
Please keep us updated regarding this. While I did order and receive the VViViD XPO Black Carbon Fiber, I never did install it. I read a few threads about it and most said to disconnect the battery so there is no danger in accidentally setting off the air bag, but then I read other threads that says to never disconnect the battery unless you have something like iCarsoft MB V2.0 for Mercedes-Benz/Sprinter/Smart that would enable you to backup and restore system settings. So I just put the project on hold. So yes, please share your experience when you get this done. Thanks!

So I completely re-did the steering wheel entirely with paddle shifters and a carbon fiber wrap on the trim. For the paddle shifter OEM+ modification, just make sure to swap your original conductor plate into the new steering wheel and everything will work perfectly, no problems at all! This comes with true manual mode when you are at a stop and put it into 1st from the shifters, def a while worth upgrade, just make sure your conductor plate has the two plugs for each paddle, most models in the US came pre-wired with these despite the car not being optioned with them. Now to the nitty-gritty, you must turn off the battery, negative then positive and reverse order to put back on. Wait 20 minutes and find the two dimples behind the steering wheel, everyone says there are levers but they aren't going to feel like levers, you're going to push on those things obstructing you from going either side inside the steering wheel dimples. Once you do that out goes the airbag and you can unplug that and then undo 4 torx 20s, two on the backside at the bottom of the steering wheel, and have your trim come out just disconnect all the connectors first. Wrap it and put it back on. Should be an easy mod didn't take me more than 30 minutes to actually install. Wrapping it correctly with those curvy lines and making it last is the difficult part.

Everything works perfectly! Also, they disconnect the battery at the dealership to do a lot of services anyways, and when they change the battery on the car or you have to jumpstart it it's the same thing. They don't really have the time to re-program it there either. Hope this helps.

Just been searching and found silver wrap less than a tenner and will do quite a few (might start up a business!,!!). Just need the courage to rip the original film off and try it.
