No
it had been done years ago by urbanworm and some others ,wasn’t worth the hassle

guys need to remember that guys have made these cars go down the track very fast without complex and expensive mods.

go back and search for lowprofile, forrestgump, Chawkins, loco, rbj etc

A hard or harsh shift is not what you want. A "push" firm shift is what you would want / look for.
Always the better way than just banging into gear.

Good thanks ! Got the the car back together...engine and trans freshin up for this years racing. Really hopeing to improve on last years times with more boost and timing along with custom header work. Loved working on this engine as they are pretty cool !!!
On a side note for the transmission even with much tighter clearances the suckers will still shift the same thanks to the learning effect in the ECU. The ECU is real "smart" on keeping shifts right where it want's them to be LOL.

Wish there was a way to change the way the ecu goes about making it shift, i mean they sure got it right in the 722.9 and later cars.

On a side note was talking with russel at sound german automotive and he said he has a programmable TCU for our cars. I think joe ernst is currently using it in his car but requires him there to tune it. But havent heard to much on it

I had an ecu tune once to test out and completely changed the way the transmission shifted in a good way, so like sicamg said ecu controls stuff in the shift too

I said it before and hate to repeat it but......had a pulley made one time from Demetre , DTK, and the belt slip was horrible. I had to "fix" the belt grooves on a lathe and all was well. But for my trouble he sent me a TCU and I was great full but leary of installing it since I had no issues with my Eurocharge version. All I can say is it was unbelievable. The trans shifted FANTASTIC and I was thrilled with it .Way beyond my expectations. But....over a couple weeks it resorted back to the same old shifts as time went on. So again the ECU figured it out !!! The only way around it was to put the Euro back in for a few weeks, let the ECU learn that one, then swap the DTK version in.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I lurked here on the W211 forum. My E55 is retired from racing so I can concentrate 100% on my CLK55.

I do have the standalone TCU from Sound German Automotive (Russell Drake) in the CLK and it's working great. I wrote a little about it on my blog: https://stumptownbenz.com/first-test...e-of-the-year/

I'm in the middle of installing the transbrake right now; I'll do a full writeup once I have that working.

Bottom line is, if you guys want improved shifting, look at the standalone controller first. It allows you to adjust A LOT of parameters that affect shift quality. If you still need more pressure than the TCU can provide, then look to upgrade the valve body to one of Russell's "150%" units (pressure is increased to 150% of stock)

does the standalone TCM fix the problem with paddle shifters and the delay between shifter and actual shift?

I don't know. I never shift manually.

It was about $1200. That includes the controller, harness, driveshaft speed sensor (which I’m not using yet) and support from Russell.

I don’t see any published prices on his site so I don’t know what his current pricing is, you should check with him directly.
