2014 E550 Coupe
I'm going to jump in here with a caveat - I have a 2014 E550 coupe (M278 engine)
My car rev matches downshift especially in the higher RPM ranges. That being said my car has an "M" mode. I'm unsure if it'll rev match in S or E as I haven't tried.

I do not get an audible with my 13' 550 but the downshifts are smooth nonetheless. Spirited driving is spirited....with or without the sound.

well, you go into manual mode when you use the paddle shifters, if you stop using them for long enough, it reverts to automatic.

TLDR: If there is not an "M" on the button, there is no manual mode.

Iv been trying to see if it can be coded in also for the longest time , I have M mode coded in already and it downshifts normally , not with a brute downshift .

Ive also been wanting this for years now...all he says is M coding etc...
watching the video now i just realized...he doesnt even have true M mode...i got my M mode coded and the M on the cluster is red..just like on the amg's
True M mode- just gives u full control of the gears...did not give me rev match downshifts
this is the only thing left i want on my car lol...it would make it so much more fun to drive as the tranny is already such a let down on these cars

So guys just an update I have the manual mode coded in on my 14 E550 and after a couple days of driving it had started rev matching the downshifts . But just so everyone knows it only really works above 3/3.5k rpm .

I did that update december 2019 i believe it was
I finnally got an online access with my xentry...
I updated about 10+ modules
I went through every module and if there was an update i did it
The trans had no update however...
It was the ECU that had an update
it said something about a possible remedy for rough shifting...i took a picture of it but its on my other phone
After updating that...my car was back to stock and the renntech hht could not be used..it wouldnt upload the tune...had to send it back in...they did something to match the update or sum...
so right off the bat after the update...the downshifts when using paddles were more synchronized with a tiny hint of a rev-match...
Before Update: downshifts were roughish...it was like a beginner trying to rev match downshift on a manual car...not quite as smooth/precise/fluid
After update: much smoother downshifts
BUT!
Its not as agressive as that e550 on that video
The update came out i believe 2019? Ill check the pictures..it said the relased date of the software on it
that brutal downshifting 550 on youtube was recorded 3 years ago...so that one does have some special sauce on it

1. Did i ever say anything about it being tcu or ecu related
Im telling yall from what i experienced before and after the ECU update
-if u wanna get technical or if u even understand
What the update did....it increased the revs of the engine[HOW? ADDED TIMING/FUEL ETC] when downshifting to better match the tranny speed therefore resulting in a more smooth seamless downshift...
Compared to before the update
There was really no "rev" [or sudden rpm increase] when downshifting therefore it was a bit rough and wasnt a smooth transition
downshift rev matching on a manual car...when u blip the throttle too much and release the clutch it will jolt...
When not enough rpm increase is given it will not be a seamless transition also...it has to be just right...
2. i believe the ecu does have a part in it...TO REV MATCH THE ENGINE....HAS TO INCREASE THE RPM CORRECT?
WHAT CONTROLS THE ENGINE? ECU? CORRECT?
YES OF COURSE THE TCU ALSO HAS A ROLE...
3. HAVE U OR EVEN KNOW HOW TO REV MATCH DOWNSHIFT ON A MANUAL CAR?
THE ENGINE REVS HIGHER WHEN YOU TAP ON THE GAS
SHIFTING THE GEAR DOES NOT MAKE THE ENGINE REV HIGHER
SO TELL ME NOW WHAT CONTROLS THE REV-MATCHING DOWNSHIFTS
EXPLAIN
NONE OF THAT GENERIC BS
"the rev match downshift has nothing to do with ecu, it is tcu related"
Just cause it has something with tranny/shifting oh its all tcu
Lmao
ITS ONE THING TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO BOLT ON AFTERMARKET PARTS TO YOUR CAR....
ITS ANOTHER THING ENTIRELY TO UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER!!!
