My ac would come on after driving for about 2min, until yesterday. It would not come on at all. The fan would not blow, the climate control would show on the display with every button I push, but no reaction. Tried the heat and defrost, no go. The climate controls for the rear worked fine, but nothing up front. At 2pm on a Saturday, I started making arrangements in my head on taking the truck to the shop to find out what's going on. Used my service advisor that's available 24hrs a day.....GOOGLE, and came across this video:



Figured this was easy enough to try, and this worked.



Look out for this wire management bracket. It made it a struggle to pull the carpet up.

After getting the carpet up there are two 25T screws and one 10mm nut to remove. The connector is under the plastic cover that these screws and nut are holding down. Once you have access under the cover the connecter will be located on the lower right side.

The wire in question was loose and coming out of the connector.

A look inside after pulling apart the connector. You can see burn marks around the connector. I have an open port on the left side so I moved the wire there. Make sure you do the same for the corresponding connection on the other connector.

Many thanks. Same thing just happened to me late Friday. Blower came on today for about 3 minutes and then back off. But all other (rear, etc) are same as you experience. I will try this tomorrow.

Yes. I’ve been waiting to see if it completely went away. It’s been working fine. I did not change the port as the original port did not seem too damaged but more importantly, I did not want to damage anything. It was a tight area as I couldn’t get the carpet back as far as I would have liked. If it happens again, I intend to try to find out how the carpet can be removed to access the other two bolts on the plastic cover so as it remove it and allow myself more room to work with.

Still useful in 2024! The only thing I'm not 100% clear on is whether the melted connector was actually a fire hazard...

Thanks for posting this. My son and I tried this today. I don't know how you got the connector out enough to take these pictures, we can barely reach it and didn't even manage to disconnect it. It feels like there is no play on the back side of the connector. Without being able to pull it out like you did I don't think we'll be able to see enough to do the port switch. Any tips on how to disconnect the connector and get it out far enough to work on it? Thanks!

First thing I would do is put a clamp on amp meter and get a reading on the current being pulled. Using a blank connector plug is a band aid because it is going to keep getting hot. It’s a quick fix but fir how long? Also located the fuse and see how it compares to the wire size and current reading with your meter. good luck

If you follow the wiring back, you can see where it is held in place. Between that and unwrapping the black tape, I was able to get some working slack. So far it’s over a year and still working fine.
