Yes! It’s noticeable on freeway. It feels like a thud almost when shifting. I notice it if I take foot off the accelerator quickly after passing someone quickly.
it’s a bit jarring sometimes. I wonder if it’s felt as a passenger.

It is supposed to shift hard when you floor it. It’s programmed into the gearbox’s software to make it feel more “sporty” kind of like a single clutch gearbox. I actually kind of enjoy it. If I’m punching it it’s probably because I’m driving aggressively and want it to feel sporty. I haven’t noticed any harsh upshifts in normal driving or any harsh downshifts in my W206 test drives. My W205 with the previous generation 9 speed was horrible with harsh downshifts.
I wish they would have coded comfort mode without this and left it for sports and sports+. The s-classes shift gears unnoticed on a much stronger engine. My W205 also felt the same. The only real difference from it is when the gear suddenly drops exiting the highway uphill while coasting so the hybrid brakes can charge better (which is rare). Otherwise, it feels like the last generation C300.

Every MB I ever owned have a jerky Gearbox. W204 gen have terrible 4-3 downshift with a 7 speed. Now my 206 have a jerky 3-2 and 7-6 downshift. Sometimes it even feel the gear is slipping, but apparently it is the normal MB gearbox behavior. If you have sport or sport plus dynamic select mode in your car, use that will very much address hard shifts. Heck, in my experience even ECO mode shifts smother than comfort, somehow comfort is the least comfortable gear shifting calibration.

C300e is not generally available in the US(I've seen 1 in US total), however I have drove one for 2 wks when I was traveling in Asia 4 months ago. And I remember being able to feel pretty obviously that the transmission is shifting even though it was in EL mode with engine off, as I remember that confused me. I won't call it nearly as jerky as my C300 4Matic, but it does not display gear number in EL mode for that car, so I couldn't tell which "shift" felt the worst.
If I am not mistaken, c300e is only availaible in RWD and the electric motor is integrated in the rear axle, my best guess is that the gearbox is still shifting with speed in case the car need to kick on the engine at moments notice for whatever reason, so if the gear is already matched it would be able to deliver torque instantly. This is the best explaination I can think of. But it is afirmtive that at least the transmission feels still shifting in EL mode.
The W206 C63S E-perf have 4matic+ and the engine drive the front wheel while rear wheel is entirely electrically driven for AWD I believe, and I've test driven one in EL mode and it feel just like an EV and completely smooth.
