troubleshooting 722.9 transmission by symptomps

anyone has a good list of symptoms that show up for each specific part of the drivetrain?
like for example how to tell whether its your torque converter or transmission clutches slipping
or its a software issue vs valve body or tcm or whatever its called or its just old dirty fluid that needs to be replaced.
or maybe an electrical issue that has to do with faulty fuse box circuits( i dont know if thats a thing or not on these cars)but im assuming it it

all i see is bunch of people in the forums guessing what it can be and others throwing countless parts at it and problem doesnt go away

best way to start fixing is to perform precise troubleshooting and pinpoint the problem before replacing parts.so i thought a post with some info would help everyone.( im not a mercedes guy or even transmission professional) i just know how to fix cars unfortunately for me since everyone assumes i know what im doing and ask me to fix their cars

The right way to start is to scan for transmission codes with a scanner capable of accessing all systems. Then correlate codes and symptoms to a map of transmission internal operation.

Was the reader you used Mercedes-specific, or generic OBD?

Autel maxidas scanner
its old but works good up until 2013 year cars
it has most of the learn and program options
im asking specifically what symptomps are for each specific faulty part
not asking about codes

If you ask for qualitative vs quantitative errors in the hopes of identifying component failure, you'll get everything from grandma's farts to my dog was sad today.

You need codes. If you're not getting any, then all is operating within acceptable limits.

Look if you dont know then skip the post.
no need to derail it with bs argument
there are symptomps for each failure that when presented as a specific combination will point to specific part failure
its just most people do not have the complete set of symptomps.
i work in hondas mostly and they have very specific set of symptomps to point to specific part. And i know them and able to point out exactly what part is faulty without a scanner because i know what to look for.

Something like this starting around P16 is where I go when first presented with a set of symptoms. It gives a place to look for the problems. There are quite a few versions around. I’ve never had one that didn’t also have stored codes when misbehaving. But I haven’t worked on 100s of them, either.

If you’re well beyond what we can provide, maybe a professional member site would be better for you (this site appears to prohibit me from naming a site that’s copyright protected).

Previous owner was shady and erased all the codes.
so i dont have any history of what was happening, just whatever i got since i bought it.
which is no transmission codes only electrical and fuse box fault codes.
the only thing i got is what i described in another post.
im waiting for atf fluid and filter it seems like old fluid was used possibly in this a89 tranny.
this post was made so peoole could post symptomps and cause. Not to troubleshoot my specific car. But someone derailed the post already.
