Water pump gasket leak

2013 80000 miles. Water pump gasket is dripping slowly . Coolant is slow to go down . Do I wait until it gets worse? Will it one day get real bad? Do I replace pump and pulleys ? Or just the gasket ? Do the pumps themselves fail?

I would budget out the whole shebang and get it all done at once: new WP, gasket, t-stat, belt, rollers, tensioner.

You'll have to get in there sooner rather than later for the other components, might as well save yourself the headache and double labor cost.

Not sure on the gassers, but the diesels originally had plastic impeller water pumps that were prone to failure; an updated part has metal impeller, make sure to get that one. I'm pretty sure a new WP comes with a new gasket included.

Bad things can happen... or not. Maybe something in between bad and nothing at all could be what happens.

Trade it in for a newer, lower mileage vehicle.

I can't say as I've ever seen a water pump gasket fail. It's usually the pump itself, or a hose leaking.

I have to get it looked at. I just had the hoses replaced , I’m not sure what’s leaking

Most water pumps have a small hole to allow water to drain out when the pump fails. It would look like gasket leak.

I would change the pump ASAP before it fails completely, and change belts extra as they are roved anyway.

Better known as a "weep hole" ... and yea, it would be obvious if coolant is dripping from there.

Personally, I have no idea if the GLK water pumps have the weep hole - would be a good thing.
