Returned to Mercedes family

After a long time - returned back to Mercedes to enjoy the 2024 G63.
I was looking at all the insane markup numbers and pulled the trigger on an Olive green Magno with 10k over msrp.
Surprised how high G63 prices have gone in the last 2 years.

Will post pictures soon!
Looking forward to spend more time here and share my experience as a first time G owner.

Looks fantastic...should do well in terms masking dirt. My emerald green G63 is a PITA to keep clean, while my Grey Magno GLA 45s can go for weeks without a wash and it looks fine as long as I keep the windows clean. Magnos should be fully matte ppf'd as matte paint can't be buffed.

Thanks! and great point on ppf. I was just wondering if I really need it and your message makes it clear. Appreciate the recommendation.
Also would appreciate any recommendations on where to get ppf in east bay.

Fantastic looking vehicle. Nice color. FYI: I did a full wrap on my 2024 Magno Copper Orange G63 and it ran about $10k. Also ceramic coated the PPF. Water just beads off when it rains and I don't stress when I get bug splats during long road trips.

Would you really need both? Dealer was recommending Cilajet Ceramic coating - would that alone work as a protection?

They do two separate things. PPF protects against flying projectiles like rocks which chip the paint. Imagine covering you car in duck tape. Only it’s clear plastic in large sheets that are cut to your vehicles dimensions. The Ceramic Coating helps the water bead off the car, it’s like wax on steroids. But it’s a liquid that dries on and it’s thin, because it’s just a liquid.

Ah got it; thanks for explaining. So what I am thinking is - do PPF for high exposure areas and ceramic coating throughout for paint protection.
Appreciate the knowledge sharing!

On my emerald green I did regular ppf on the front, bonnet and mirror caps, and also did ceramic on the entire car. I am not worried about ppf on the rest of the car since it can be polished if it gets a stain or a scratch.

On the gray magno GLA 45s I did full matte ppf on the entire car to protect the matte magno paint, and I did ceramic as well like sls. The magno paint doesn't allow you to buff out any stains or scratches, so I covered the whole car. I'd consider covering your entire wagon with both.

In addition, I'd cover the windshield with a protective sheet too while doing the the above. These verticle wiindshields are magnets for rocks and debris that can crack since they take direct hits that would glance off a less inclined windshield.

Second this. We take ours on road trips and the protective covering/tint we put on the windshield is getting scraped up where the rocks hit, but the windshield is staying intact. May have to change out the protective layer though, as it is getting beat up over time. But better than having to replace the windshield.

Absolutely! If I had bought a color in regular paint, I would have done a partial wrap. But with a Magno color, I needed to cover the entire vehicle. As sjs3003 mentioned, its very difficult to almost impossible, to repair Magno paint.

Thanks!
Question to the group here on the Burmester sound quality - the sound quality is no were close to the burmester in my Porsche.
Is there some setting that I am missing? I have the surround sound feature on but still...

We have Burnesters in 4 vehicles: a V250, a GLA45s, the G wagon and my wife's '23 Macan GTS. Each system sounds very different. The system in the Macan is by far the best. It was almost a $7k option here. It has deeper lows, clearer sound and a better soundstage than the G wagon. The G Wagon actually comes in second. Definitely not as good as the Macan. However it is much better than the GLA. The GLA is OK but below expectations. And the V250 system is simply bad.

I wasn’t as impressed with the sound in our 2024 G wagon compared to the B&W sound in our BMW 6 series Grande Coupe. Bohemian Rhapsode in the G wagon makes it sound epic though. I have a lossless flac file that is on an SD card. So some of it could be based on the source material. But the BMW made everything sound good.

Great to know this is not the worse performing Burmeister
I tend to enjoy the exhaust sound track more than anything else...
