09 C300 passenger mirror blinker - tips/tricks?
Hi all
the car is throwing a notice on the dash message that the blinker in the passenger side mirror (forward facing) is out...
right blinker is ticking fast, so it seems legit (I only add this because it's been saying my license light is out too, but it isn't really)
I've gone through a lot of the threads here to find some comparable situations/fixes
but before I start unscrewing things, does anyone have any tips or tricks I should know that may keep me from finding out stuff the hard way?
thanks in advance
John

I bet your solderless DCU "Door module" has a poor connection else mirror got wet or car washed too many time.
Testing will provide hard clues.

ok so now comes the [dumb] follow-up question - what am I scanning with?
I'm 90% it's the bulb or the strip or both
I was hoping I didn't have to go too deep down the rabbit hole lol
because who doesn't love a $6 bulb instead of a $200 DCU
where does that module even live?
sorry for all the questions, I'm more well-versed in driving these than fixing these.
TIA!

John, if you want to make progress you can book the services of a local MB specialist.
The worst thing would be to take your car appart and not fix it.
Using a scanner is a sure way to work on what you're interested in. The learning curve can be sharp.

Do you have the triangle looking lens? Try looking at the blinker for any bulbs out, I think they are a series of 4 led bulbs in there. Carefully remove the light and check/clean the connector then try the blinker again.
Can always remove the drivers side turn signal and connect it to the passenger side to see if it is the bulbs.
If you have the triangle looking turn signals here is a video on how to remove it:

After some searching im not sure you will be able to tell if one of the leds is out, looks like they reflect the light out. Found the photo here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...l-replace.html

I think only the '08s got the triangle, elephant-ear side mirrors posted above. If those ARE your lenses, they're so cheap and so easy to replace I would probably go ahead and replace it if you already have a warning for it.
That said, I've replaced many of those over the 16 years and 245k miles, but never lost a single one to a bad LED. It's always water ingress on the seals, which causes moisture to form inside. But the LEDs worked just fine.
