Throttle coding fun

There are some parameters in the ECU that impact throttle response. I was focusing on two based on prior experience with my S550.

The first is "extended throttle change damping." The second is "limitation of engine torque."

For extended throttle change damping, the stock setting is 3. The choices are disabled through 7. I tried every setting. When disabled that had the best throttle response BUT was hanging the throttle after you let off. This is no good. It's possible another code setting could fix this but that will require more research so I gave up and set it back to 3. It drives just fine in 3 anyway.

Limitation of engine torque seems to be in charge of making the throttle go limp after you come to an almost-stop and try to get back on the throttle quickly. Disabling this appears to have gotten rid of that annoyance so that's great. It may also impact other scenarios (like getting on the throttle quickly when the steering wheel is turned but I will have to drive it more and see if that's true). Before anyone gets excited, I am quite confident that this has nothing to do with the overall engine torque limitations in the lower gears - that stuff will require a tune to remove, as usual.

Attached are my stock codings. I will upload the new codings tomorrow.

Why is it all in German? My copy shows in English. You can change the language in System Settings > General > Setting Language > English

Is that for the N3/10 (ECU) module?

PEDAL BEHAVIOR

EMOTIONS START not active option

Whart sort of process do you use to activate those system changes ?
A chassis reboot or just key cycling ?

That pedal is quite smart in the way it controls the engine + tranny. It's got different behaviors between city and highway speeds.

SMART PEDAL:
Lately what I've noticed is rock solid pedal with zero sponge squeezing. Tranny matching seemlessly engine RPM. ECU very easily holding lower gears to 3500 based on pressure.

GDI INSANE TORQUE :
Where the "GDI pedal" is most funny is at the red light: it pushes the car forward as strong as I squeeze accelerator.
It does not accelerate, it just pushes massively as hard as I squeeze - I was never used to that pressure sensitive stuff. This torque is unreal, hot or cold engine - No super heat either!

GOOD KARMA:
I got rewarded by the MB Gods but my master got delayed. I came from where he's at. I too was stuck with heat and no torque.
It could be all the wasted torque producing high heat... I don't think so. High heat is easily removed because there's NOT a lot of mass involved in pistons to store heat.
Pistons store a small amount extremely high: easily removed when keeping up with heat production.

SPORT COOLING
Master Surya is a salty diver with solutions : he redlines the engine for oil cooling pressure with enough speed to blow air through radiator.

Interesting. I put your VIN into the XENTRY Simulation, thinking it should match the factory settings to your car, but I get a list of different items completely when looking at the N3/10 module.

I think you need to manually select the ME177 ECU in the setup. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to know the way the car would be configured and default to that, even with the VIN.

I assume all ECUs are named n3/10. I didn't confirm that's what mine is called. I think I recognize that nomenclature from the ME97. So it's possible you were looking at codings from the ME97 or some other incorrect ECU.

Still not the same. Attached is what I have for your car.

EDIT: I'm beginning to think that you need to have the actual car connected to get accurate information.

Well the list of possibilities seems the same. Also it's nice that yours are in English. Not sure what mine is doing. I will try again just to confirm that the Launch did all the correct things.

Did you set your language to English? (See post #2.)

Well I fired Xentry up not connected to the car and yes it is in English. All of the Xentry controls are in English so I'm not sure if there is another setting. I could try simulation mode to see if it is the same as yours or different.

So just to recap, I disabled ONE parameter, the "limitation of engine torque" parameter. I can confirm from more driving that it does seem to remove the long delay in response when getting back on the throttle after slowing to an almost stop. Definitely worth while.

Looks like the Launch did the right thing. Still in German though. But clearly Xentry is in English as you can see below.
