So, Mercedes have made a mistake 😕

My car was having a gearbox oil service, and today I've got a phone call saying unfortunately I can't have my car back as they have accidentally put the wrong oil in the gearbox, the car never left the ramp but it was run upto temp and cycled to get correct oil level.

It's needs to be drained and then re serviced with the correct oil. They have admitted fault and apologised.

It was only noticed as a different tech was topping it up once upto temp and notices the oil was gold going into the box so he immediately stopped and raised the alarm so to speak.

They said they will flush and it should be fine but any issues they will sort it.

Will it be ok ?

Have it in writing that if anything happens to the transmission because of this, they are responsible. Hmmm, gold, I wonder what they put in there, it can't put engine oil can it?

require them give you a MB all-inclusive warranty on gearbox to give you peace of mind while you enjoy car.
Otherwise you will always be "worried" about breaking down in middle of nowhere USA and stranded and then having to pay for a new gearbox since they were reason it failed.

go by mileage not months. so ask for it out to 150K miles.

I agree with ygmn, but you should be fine. The gold fluid is the new fluid for the 9spd transmission and the facelift c63. Since you didn’t drive around or anything of the sort you should be okay.

Like the 7 speed trannys don’t have enough issues. At least they admitted to the mistake . Definitely make sure it is in writing on the service papers.
