2014 wagon rear shock options?

I have a leaking right rear shock and wondered if anybody has come across any options. They seem to be specific to the wagon and pretty difficult to locate. Curious if the 213 rears are the same.

Yeah I bought used from eBay. My rear shocks were both leaking when I bought the car around 97-98k. Bought a used, correct P/N set on eBay (I think they were from a 15 CLS63). They seem to be working just fine. For the front, I will probably buy new.

I'm still pissed that MB switched to Monroe from Bilstein (ADS/Airmatic) and Sachs (non-ADS).

100% the wagon is NOT the same. I just did mine about three months ago. Took about six months to find the parts. One was in UT, the other one was in GA or some such place. Took dealer searches over and over again to get them.

My car is a sedan. I didn't say they were the same, only that my cross-reference search led me to a set from a 2015 CLS63. I have no idea if the wagon crosses to anything but a 2014-2016 E63 wagon.

does anyone have any first-hand information regarding alternatives? I'm fully aware that these are very difficult if not impossible to find.

51north needs dampers (aka shock absorbers), not springs.
Here is a photo of what he needs (ignore the red highlight): E63 Wagon Rear Shocks Replacement PN's - post #7.
The part numbers are:
a2183202130 left side
a2183202230 right side

Here's a video explaining 212 Mercedes suspension layout.
Skip to 7:00 for rear suspension; specifically 7:45 for a clear look at rear spring and damper.

Arnott is a trusted source for air springs. This is what they make for 212 Mercedes:
Rear left: https://arnott.mycarparts.com/items/A-2791
Rear right: https://arnott.mycarparts.com/items/A-2790

Edit: Here's a good video showing what air springs look like. Skip to 7:00 on this video too.

I just had a separate curiosity about springs; I see the difference between shocks and springs. Thanks for the info and part numbers/links. Will add this thread to the sticky

so it sounds like those Chinese springs are garbage - I've read about Arnott many times on these forums, will keep them in mind for sure

I'm thinking if i had to start accumulating "hard to find" parts, I will start with rear shocks, since I know these will be hard to find new; and I plan to keep this car a long time and if I don't, the parts will flip easily since ... they are hard to find

If a bunch of you order rear dampers then maybe it will trigger Mercedes to [have their supplier, Monroe] make a fresh batch.

My driver side appears to be fine, and those do seem to have availability. Initially I didn't see any visible leakage, just a slight clunking on cracks in the road at low speed. It appears the only source for replacement is the salvage yard so I'll take whatever I can get at this point. My next step in this ordeal is most likely going to be trying a set from a CLS, and attempt to code the ADS to that model. The 218 prefix in my part number is from that car anyway, which I don't understand. Maybe somebody with some parts knowledge can chime in. My assumption is the wagon was designed to carry more weight, thus the different shocks. Units from the newer 213 model appear to have dual electrical connectors and therefore probably a no-go.

Your wagon parts:
Rear left: A2183202130
Rear right: A2183202230

FWIW my E63S sedan rear shock P/Ns are:
Rear left: A2183201930
Rear right: A2183202030

I suspect the difference is just geometry (i.e. length). I doubt the shock itself is really that different.

Bonus info: My 14 E63S sedan and your wagon use identical rear air springs. I do not think load carrying has to do with anything and I don't know that the load capacity of the wagon is really that much higher than the sedan in the first place. But I digress.
Rear left: A2123204325
Rear right: A2123204425

they are physically different. The appendage, which appears to be some type of reservoir or electrical component, on the sedan is perpendicular to the shock, on mine it sits maybe 10° off parallel to the shock itself.

Yeah that's fine, it's for packaging, which is generally what I meant by geometry.

Yes, different packaging. Could also be length differences as I said before.
