C180 Coupe 2012
Hello, got my first mb yesterday (c180 Coupe 2012) and having issues

Hi there, my first post.

I picked up my first Mercedes yesterday, about 30 mins in to the 100 mile drive home a warning on the dash said Coolant Stop, Engine Off.
The temp gague was at max 120 and it was in limp mode.
I stopped at the next services for 20 mins, started up and it was fine for the whole journey home, which included a couple of stop offs.

Today, I've had 3 instances of the car jerking when accelerating and then going into limp mode. No dash warnings, but again the temp gague is on max 120.

If I turn the ignition off and start up again it goes back to normal.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks in advance

Get a Mercedes specific scanner and scan for codes. Then tell us what you find.

Are you losing coolant, can you see it dripping from under the car? Can you see any active leaks under the hood from a hose or coolant dripping down the engine?

Do you notice the fan in the engine bay running? With the gauge showing the car over temp the fan should be running and pretty loud.

With the engine cold start it up and watch the temp gauge, when it gets to around 90-100 it should stop and maybe even slightly go down. Thermostat should open at this point. Or does the temp just keep rising?
