MB Ownership - the struggles are real...

So, washer fluid had the flow of a late-middle aged alcoholic with an enlarged prostate....just a trickle. I decide I needed a new pump....didnt work. Decide to the lines (you know, the blow with your mouth test - put some hawk two-ie into it)...cant force air through the tubes.

Another new pump...remove check valve.....FINALLY, after much work, take out the whole damn washer fluid tank. Well, it was like gel in the bottom of the tank....odd stuff clogging up everything....

My fix was hot water

I noticed my level sensor was sticking. I tried flushing with water and spraying it empty. Worked for a short time.
Boiled hot water and been good. What I do now all cars get water during the summer and fluid during the winter.
The bugs spray gel with the heat.

I've been using Sonax windshield wash concentrate for a few years now with good results. I would imagine a diluted solution may yield good results in warmer climates.

I just use water for mine. Doesn't see rain or snow, winter months either, also no worries about freezing during storage as car sits in a 55* garage

If the temperature outside your garage or other climate controlled parking is below freezing, it would not take much for the freezing temperature comes inside your garage.
In 2021in Texas, we had a cold spell, resulting in a hard freeze. Pipes, wind turbines, freeze plugs, water mains, had catastrophic damage. Just a little washer fluid (mixed with water)would keep the washer plumbing from being damaged.
Also, tap water with lots of minerals in it will eventually clog radiators and other plumbing.

Yep, been there done that. It gels up after many years and blocks the flow in the rubber strainer and yes, it's an epic pain. I do not live in a cold climate so there's no effect there.
