Roof flaps problem

Hi,

I replaced the the actuators and tightened them.
But as soon as the roof opens, the flaps hang loose. If I tighten again, every time they are straightaway lose again.

anybody familiar with this problem?

thanks

How did you tighten them? If your car still has the original brackets in the flap hinges they are probably bent, allowing the gears to jump tooths. MB sells improved (stronger) ones at reasonable cost. Lubricate those hinges when you're at it, I was surprised how hard it was to rotate them while their gear was free.

If things look okay on the flaps I think the central gear at the motor is suspect.

i disassembled the whole mechanism. All gears look fine. Still while operating the roof, the trunk opens en the flaps stop halfway.
if I then push on the upper 2 micro switches with a screwdriver, I am able to close the roof again.

any idea what can be something else to check?

thanks

The motor and flap gears have to be in sync or they won't have the proper range of travel. You might need to reposition the flaps.

Sounds like are purely mechanical thing: the flaps need to do the same thing at the same moment. Did you create incongruence between them while replacing the brackets?

is the malfunction possible due to bad regulation of these nuts?

the roof stops in the position as is in the picture. And when I push the upper micro switches at the same time, the roof will close again. I can not open it because the flaps will touch the window while operating. So I suppose the flaps need to be already all way up at that moment of the process?

This should show it. I'll try to post the reverse sequence as well.

thanks for the movie. And I know that’s the way how it should go. But the flaps stop midway and then the roof stops. This is because the micro switches of the flaps are not activated. So when I press the upper micro switches, it works again.
but every time when I open it, the flaps stop halfway.

Are you able to post a clear photo of your right hand front lock, at the front of the roof panel? Is the black plastic 'finger' undamaged and stable?
