Hello. I recently had a noise proportional to the speed of the vehicle and not to the engine speed. Does this noise mean anything to you?

Yea it means get someone to diagnose it before something critical breaks and leaves you broke ! Breaking the front ujoint at highway speed can ruin about 10,000.00$ worth of stuff.

I don't quite understand the meaning of your answer. I'm just asking for an opinion. Diagnosing a 4 Matic is quite complex. If this noise means something to you, just share it....

My interpretation of Mmr1's post is this: your noise sounds like something that could be very bad and failure could be imminent; don't drive it until you get a better diagnosis as you could end up with a very large repair bill.

Very hard to tell from the audio file. I hear a faint gear whine and what could be a lot of wind noise, or something entirely different. It's hard to tell what is important, and what is, well, "just noise"..

I see why you might not understand Mmr1's response, if English is not your first language.

There are many areas and things that could make noise, bearings , cv and universal joints , I can think of 12 different things -areas, that go bad. I’ve heard of a few people that had the front Ujoint break at highway speed , then flailing around destroying the transfer case- transmission , differential and more. One guy got a quotes from MB for about 10,000$ to fix the mess. I think getting a pro to look at it now will let you know what to do next. My front U joint went bad and could have broken at highway speed destroying my car. It has a cheap design and has no bracket covering the driveshaft to prevent this damage. Usually noise means a bearing is bad . Usually expensive repairs are needed. Nobody can tell by a recording of the sound. A mechanic needs to locate it. And that can be difficult.

Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec vous. En fait, ce bruit est apparu après un voyage de 1 000 km sous l'eau. Le véhicule a 80 000 km et est dans un état exceptionnel ! La première fois on m'a dit que c'était la boite de transfert. Pourtant j'ai fait la vidange du train avant, ce qui a clairement résolu le problème. 1 an plus tard, après être ressorti du service, même problème ! J'ai donc repensé au train avant. J'ai démonté entièrement la partie avant de la transmission afin de changer le pont ! Au démontage, j'ai constaté un problème au niveau des roulements sur le nez du pont. J'ai donc remonté le pont, je l'ai mis dans l'huile et je l'ai remonté correctement. Après remontage, ce bruit est toujours là ! La voiture roule absolument sans problème. souple, légère avec une boîte confortable mais avec dans le bruit de fond, ce fameux bruit... voiture sur le pont, roues qui pendent, impossible de localiser ce bruit : les roues doivent être en charge.... c'est pour cela que je pense aux roulements de la boite de transfert intégrée mais toujours un doute sur le roulement du palier d'arbre arrière ou sur le pont arrière.... c'est pour cela que je pose la question ici.
