hands free tail gate open
2022 glc 300 with parking assisted, all around cameras, and keyless go start. I cannot get the trunk open w foot kick/slide...is the car not equipped with the handsfree option? any inputs or advices help. Bought the car used from Lexus dealer and salesman has zero mb knowledge. Other than that, car drives very nice. Still have my 08 c350 and 05 slk350 and loves them. Thanks

Hi, I believe that through the 2020 model year of the GLC, the Hands-Free Access liftgate was included in the Parking Assistance Package. However, beginning in 2021, this became an individual option. You can check your car under the lower rear bumper trim if there are 2 parallel sensor strips to see if that option is fitted and just not working. I don't have a good photo, but below is a picture of my aftermarket hitch. You can barley see a foot sensor strip covered with duct tape protecting it as it rests directly on top of the drawbar receiver.

That's the case with my 2022, which I ordered. During the option selection process my salesman frequently "refreshed" to see if options would "take" and that one didn't. I also have park assist and Keyless Go.

But I have to report that it worked twice in a row for me - in the privacy of my garage.
I think I need bigger feet.

Sorry for the confusion, it is not a joke, you hover your foot at the sensor and pull (kick) backwards, it works for me all the time to get the tailgate open. By the way, you need to make sure the key is on you.
