2024 GLE450 - Wrapping Chrome Trim Pieces
Will be picking up a CPO GLE450 with AMG package. We wanted the Night package, but this one was too good of a deal to pass up. I am planning to just wrap all the chrome pieces and was wondering how these pieces come off:
1. Front bumper trim (Left and Right Curved one) - these seem to be held in with clips, so I think I can just carefully wedge a trim removal tool in at certain spots and pry them out?
2. Front bumper trim (lower portion aka Basic Carrier) - I think this is held in by screws, so possibly remove the undertray for access?
3. Side mirror caps - these also seem to just pop out, but any specific instructions to do it so that I don't break anything?
4. Roof rails - Can these be removed? If so, are the bolts accessible without having to remove headliner?
5. Window trim - probably just wrap these on the car.
6. Rear lower bumper trim - probably just wrap on the car.
7. Chrome strip below the Mercedes Star on rear hatch - can it be removed?
And then for anyone who has wrapped or maybe even dipped some parts:
1. Exhaust Tips - did you wrap these? I believe these are just faux tips. The exhaust pipes aren't connect and point straight down behind the tips.
2. Badging - wrap or dip?

You might consider PlastiDip. At least to save some fiddly labor, and you could also add a "splash of red" for personalization. Or not...

what brand of wrap did you go with? Went to two shops today and they said they use 3M. A 2”x30ft roll off Amazon is like $37. One shop quoted me $2k and the other $2700 ($900 was to wrap the roof rails!) just for chrome delete. I’m likely going to DIY the chrome delete.
yes I’ve seen it done on a white GLE with black badges as well. It looked good. You can get replacement badges in black or remove them and repaint.
The installer uses 3M gloss wrap (I didn't do it myself).
Plastidip for the roof rails was cheaper (and an easier job) than the wrap.
I kept the badges and the rear strip chromed. The top of the mirrors with original paint.

From what I could tell, it would be easier to remove the front bumper if you wanted to replace them. I just had a shop wrap them as is and it worked fine. The grill is not a genuine AMG. AMG grills only come in chrome. It's an aftermarket one. One option if I would have done it again is buy an amg grill and then paint it.
