Purchasing First GLS550 - VIN Check Reveals Lack of Info First 3 Years
Hello Everyone! I am excited to get back on the MB forums; had a MB about 8 years ago. This time around, a 2019 GLS550.
I am purchasing it from out of state and it's being trailered to me. My question revolves around the lack of information on a CarFax and other VIN-check options.
The car was purchase in 2019, however the very first historical record was in July of 2022. Head scratcher.
On the MB Recall site (https://www.mbusa.com/en/recall) the results for the VIN shows "Please Enter a Valid VIN"
On LastVIN.com, same result, "VIN Not Found".
The VIN, however, does pop up on CarFax and other Historical VIN checks like that.
It does, however, come up on mbdecoder.com. Ironically, it comes up as a GL500 in stead of a GLS 550?
I would really appreciate some assistance here. I did reach out to MB directly and ask for them to look up the VIN manually and send any/all info.
Side Note: If you have read this far, thanks! I know this forum is phenomenal. I am aware of the airbag issues as well as heat issues with the silica cylinder and the plastic parts related to turbo system. Anything to do as preventative maintenance? Thank you in Advance!

If it's a MB dealer, he can look up the history for you. Any one of us who have the Mercedes WIS/EPS software can try to look it up, to at least verify the VIN.
