Seat Backrest Not Locked - Driver's Display Warning

Good morning, how do you turn-off the annoying display warning other than pressing the "OK" Steering Column Button, a temporary fix. Yes, we know the second-row seats are not in their upright locked position, we use the extended cargo area for the Dog Travel Kennel, Groceries, Home Depot Runs, etc. We just leave them down all the time. Went through the manual, perhaps not enough. Thanks

I had a post about this, and it was discussed. The bottom line is that there is no known way to fix it. This could be a reaction to some kind of European law about the seats. It would be an easy software fix for Mercedes; I see no indication that they will do that. I agree it is very annoying, but some people on this forum mocked me when I pointed that out. If you could find the sensor that is causing this, maybe you could physically disable it. Good luck and let us know if you find a solution.

hpilot, Thanks for the feedback, yes, I sensed there was some EU Regulation or perhaps a US Lawsuit whereby someone was injured and the driver was unaware of the seat backrest not being locked. Along with the Start/Stop Function, it's just another in a two-step process every time I get in the car. I previously owned a '14 Porsche Cayman S and they had a button to disable the Start/Stop until you hit the button again to reactivated it, boy wouldn't that be nice.

Overall, very happy with the '24 GLC300 with the AMG Package however trying to come to terms with the driver's seat settings. I'm 5-7 and I didn't have any problems getting in/out of my'14 ML350BT stepping on the MB Brushed Aluminum Running Boards. As I look at the ML and GLC parked side X side it looks like the door sills are about the same height, wish I had been a bit more astute to that fact. Seems no matter what I do I can't get out without sliding the back of my legs on the AMG black angled sided boards, no area to step on them just wind deflectors. For now, I've set the driver's seat setting # 1 to the lowest height and all the way back, when exiting I select that, it helps somewhat. I reenter the vehicle and once seated I hit the #2 setting where my driving seat adjustment needs to be. Like the start/stop, and backrest unlatched warning, just another step so actually a "three-step process", wonder if they'll be more.

It's amazing how similar our issues are. I have a 2015 C300, and I found a software hack to give the stop/start a memory. Now when I turn it off it stays off when the car is turned off and back on again. That cut out a step every time I started the car. I have not found a software hack for the 2025 GLC that I have. However, I could disable it permanently with software, but I haven't done it yet. I also have the AMG package, and I agree about the sill problem. I like the other AMG stuff, but I don't like that. Unfortunately, when I complain on this forum about these little irritants, I get trolled most of the time. I knew when I ordered the car, getting in and out would be a problem (I am 5'6"). However, once I get into the seat, I am very comfortable with the sport seats.

hpilot, I'm always interested in someone's opinion pro or con, gives me some perspective. I'm not all that enthused I have to go through the additional steps, but as they say, it is what it is. I always wonder what ramifications might come about, legally or warranty wise when undertaking any changes to the factory set-up, those injury attorneys would love building a case that change "X" impacted their client. After our '99 Lexus RX300 with 358K miles bit the dust we picked-up a '22 CPO GLB250 but found that was pretty stiff and the seats not comfortable so from a drivability standpoint a 100% improvement with the GLC + after having several eye surgeries I needed a larger screen and the GLC certainly fits the bill, so very happy. I do have a couple of "distracted driving" things I'm not a fan of but learning to deal with them. The whole cruise control activate/deactivate process and the crazy sliding increase and decrease cruise speed function. I'm right hand dominant and could they have made those touch points any smaller ...... Also, a simple radio channel change function requires me to look over and press the touchscreen or wait for "Hey Mercedes" to change and yes, I know about the abbreviated command. As I said in the beginning, it is what it is................

Have the same problem. Using a large screwdriver, you can manipulate the latch to close it and the warning goes away. If its not obvious to you how to do this, the dealer should be able to show you.

wmjweber45, Thanks for the reply, I'll have to carefully take a look at that but pressing the "OK" on the steering column (3) times Right/Center/Left to clear the tree warnings every time I start the car is getting a bit old. My only thought, when returning the seats to their upright position is it hard to trip the locking mechanism back to the receiver position so-to-speak.

Not a problem. Just pull on the lever you used to unlock the seat to put it down,
