They don't need a DD214. Any type of proof will suffice; in my case I requested the moderator to google search on my rank and name and multiple articles would come up from the various missions in which I participated. Someone as old as Plutoe proof would probably be a photo of him back in the day...

I had to request if more than once, but that was a communication problem that has now been solved.
The requirements are not burdensome, but they are valid. No one ever asked for a DD 214 or other personally identifiable information. They did request certain information to confirm I am a veteran.

I appreciate those who volunteer to perform this duty.
