SL/R129 Chattering drivers side window

2001 SL500 F1 Edition

Chattering drivers side window

Anybody have a fix for a chattering drivers side window? When it is rainy, which it does a lot in Seattle, the drivers window chatters like crazy when lowering it. It is real loud and it jumps a lot.

it is because your molding on you hard or soft top is warn out. when it is fresh it looks like velvet and feels soft, when worn is feels like rubber. i had the same thing happen to me and i just got it replaced yesterday, the bill for the hard top molding is like 400 bucks i think. good luck!!

Fix for the problem

Try using Rain X on the oustide of the window and Rain X Interior on the inside of the window. It worked for me.

Thanks for the tip on the RainX...I can do that tonight when my wife brings the car home. As for the moulding...I will investigate that solution as well and keep an eye on it. The drivers side gets so much more wear.
