Thank you very much for your e-mail regarding Albrex Supercharger for Mercedes-Benz R129 SL. Albrex Supercharger is quite unique device which can increase your engine power dramatically, not to increase risk of engine damage. It is well known fact that Legendary Koenig-Specials cars used this Supercharger for increasing engine horsepower, which are for Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 911, Porsche 928, Mercedes-Benz W126 (SEL, SEC), R107/R129 SL and so on. Besides, All of them were built by our chief mechanic when he was helping Koenig Specials. (Mercedes Meister)
Albrex Supercharger requires engine modification before installing Supercharger unit.
It is not a "bolt-on" type Supercharger. "Bolt-on" type Superchargers are facing a lot of problems in Engine endurance and performance. As you might know, Lorinzer in Germany released Supercharger kit recently but it is a big trouble maker. Even Carlsson are facing same problems. Nothing can be done without engine modification.
As Albrex Supercharger gives significant increase of Engine horsepower, we need to modify Cylinder heads, valves, pistons, and engine control unit. Your R129 is 1992 model, so fuel control is "KE" jetronic. This type can not have intercooler between Supercharger and Engine intake, but still gives great performance.
We supply this Supercharger unit with engine modification for KE jetronic M119 engine (your engine) by 2,850,000 jpyen.(without tax) =almost 22,800 usd. It is 400ps kit.
If you need more power,we can modify your engine to 6.0L engine (This engine is 400ps Normal Aspiration) then install Supercharger. It gives more than 480ps-500ps. Building 6.0L new engine is 3,000,000jpyen (without tax)=almost 24,000 usd + Supercharger is 2,850,000 jp yen (22,800 usd) = total 5,850,000.(46,800 usd)
The ultimate engine is same as Koenig-Specials. 6.2L+Supercharger. It can provide
550ps or more for your car. Building 6.2L new engine (430ps Normal Aspiration) is 3,500,000 jpyen (28,000 usd). With Supercharger, total cost is 6,350,000 jpyen.(=50,800 usd)
All engine horsepower depends on weather and temperature conditions of course, but
it is fact that your R129 is going to be ultimate-powerful R129.
When you install Supercharger to 5.0L/6.0L/6.2L engine, at least you need to modify Automatic Transmissions. Our transmission modify menu is 600,000jpyen(=4,800usd) . For 6.0L+SC, 6.2L+SC require differential gear modification. It is
450,000jpyen (=3,600 usd).
If you select 6.2L Ultimate Supercharger kit, it goes like
Engine(28,000usd)+SCkit(22,800usd)+AT(4,800usd)+Di fgear(3,600usd)=59,200usd
If you select 5.0L modified-normal engine, it goes like
Engine+SC(22,800)+AT(4,800)=27,600usd

if you did end up using NOS, tell me how it gose :-)
As you might be well aware, M119 is the one of the greatest engines by M Benz. We have lots of programs which stands on our long-time experience and huge knowledge for this engine, as well as M120 which can be most powerful (but heaviest) NA engine.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in our programs.

But ,these kind of conversions are not justifiable as the prices are higher than the cost of the car and can never be recouped on selling...
It is much easier to swap your 500 for a 600 to get the 400hp you're after,
and the cost is minimal...
If you want to get 500hp,wait till next year,by then the SL55 will be down to
80K and you'll be able to buy a factory car with no mess.
Realistically,129's can be upgraded with chips, exhausts, drivetrain, air filters
and hot cams...A maximum of 5K to spend with a 50/60hp power increase but a much nicer car to drive, specially if you uprate brakes, suspension, wheels and tires.......My opinion......

I know that this thread is old but I just came across it. Can you give me details on the specific names of the parts that you site in your entry that can increase horsepower by 50/60 hp.
Chips, Exhaust, Drivetrain, air filters (I am assuming K&N) and hot cams. I have an SL 600 (V12) and would like to try and enhance performance.
