2001 SL 500
For Sale: 2001 SL 500

Work slowdown and impending layoff is forcing me to place SL for sale.
Brilliant Silver/Ash with Pano top. Wood wheel and shift knob, CD, AMG 18" wheels. 32,000 miles, still under factory warrenty until June. I am located in south-central Washington state.
I have been advised by the local dealer, where I bought the car, to ask $47,000.

Inquires via PM please.

You can ask anything you want but a 2001 with those miles is going to actually sell for under $40K in the current market. I've seen lower mileage near perfect 01s sell for $37K in the past few weeks. I'm very close to a deal on a 17K mile '02 Silver Arrow for $43K (they are asking $49K and thought they had a buyer last week at a much lower price but it didn't happen).

Thanks for the market condition research in Texas. As I don't live there, well...

I'll put you down as "undecided".

My research of pricing is from the most recent 2 months and is nationwide. There are not too many 01-02 SLs for sale in Texas, so searching nationally is the only way to find good cars. Your car is worth $36-38K and if you find a real dumbass buyer you might clear $40K. We have a one perfect 01 that I've found locally. it's in the 20K mileage and he's asking $40K...it's nationally advertised at local independent dealer and he's had it for sale for over 3 months with no offers near his asking price. There is a similar mileage 02 Silver Arrow here at another dealer asking $48K, again been for sale for months with no offers near his asking (he had a deal at $45K and somehow dropped the ball or buyer found the same thing cheaper). There is a second local 02 SA with the same asking price, again...it's been on the market for many months. There is an 02 SA in Las Vegas that the asking price is $43K, still not sold and damn nice car. Last week a 36K mile SA sold for under $40K around the corner from my office...do I need to keep going???

Steel Grey 2012 ML350 is wife's
Even though I have been researching r129's the past couple months, and could agree with Lincoln about the pricing, in my lifetime I have seen that "there is an *** for every seat and a boatload arriving daily"; meaning that someone with the funds sometimes doesn't care for a better deal elsewhere only that they want it and it's here now.

I on the other hand enjoy spending months shopping for the best deal, reading every add/report on Autotrader, eBay and Manheim.. actually I like the "find" better than driving the car (or else I have too much time on my hands)!
