285 wide rear tyres yes or no

Guys i am about to replace the rear tyres on my SL300 24v (front next month).I can get some really good deals on 285x35x18 but the AMG guide states 275x35x18.Will 285 fit or will they rub the arches ?.I am thinking Pirelli PZero Rosso for my car what do you think ?.

Hi yeah 245 in the front as per the AMG book for the 129.Both these sizes are rare over in the UK so i have to special order which then means no discount or very little anyway. Is the PZero Rosso about the best choice or should i go Michelin Pilot Sport 2.

have you ever contemplated Nitto? i have them and they are very very sticky!! i have Pilots on my E500 and in my opinion the nittos are stickey, but in rain the PS are better.

Hi dont think Nitto are available here in the UK. My 2 choices are PS2 or Rosso. They seem to be the best out there and the 2 tyres that AMG are fitting to their cars.

They did put Michelin or Dunlop on, according to the data card.

275 and 285 over kill.......for your SL 300.........you will get bad gas mileage and your car will run slower.........

Have no choice my wheels are AMG so any size other than 275 will be to thin for the rim.I got 4 PS2 put on the car today 245 front and 275 rear.Wow the car grips like mad but yeah they do make some noise.Nothing you cant get rid of by turning the cd on.Im happy cos i got a total bargain.
