Hi Red:

The new seats look nice! I'll bet your glad to be rid of the stock seats - very little lower back support in my opinion. Are new seats a big investment?

1) yes big, very big investment. about 1.9K
2) no i did not have an srs problem, does your C class have that "child seat finder" thing that might have been what set it off.

the seats are awsome though.

Nice leather! Are they completely new seats, or did you just get new leather for your old seats, did you cover the rear as well?

I had mine done about 18 months ago... the seats had to be taken out, and I had no problem when they were put back in.

The old leather was really stiff and grubby and shiny, but I wish I had tried steam cleaning them. I steam (Polti) the new ones, and the seats in my Mini... and the leather gets really supple and looks fantastic... better than any leather conditioner I have ever used.

b4mmy: Would you mind giving instructions for steam cleaning the leather seats? I have never done that before or seen it done and I might want to try it out.

Thanks!

No problem, here is a link to a news article that I found. I don't know where you can buy them in the States, but there is a phone number you can get some details from. I swear, you will not be sorry if you use it... it really does work wonders... and you can use it cleaning the engine as well, and the carpets come up like brand new.... Er, of course it was really designed to clean the house...

Need newer style seats

Am looking to find seats out of a newer SL (mine is a 94) to replace.
Like the look and feel of 2002 model.
Any sources? Any idea of cost for OEM parts?

hey!

the average cost for oem lether is 900 a seat, and then you must factor in putting the foam in, and putting teh seats in. reguardles it will be in the ball park of $2K.

Interesting ... the R230 seats are touted as being more comfortable. Are they interchangable with the R129 seats?

I think the SRS warning is due to the belt tensioner!?!
