Totally sounds like a scam. I wouldn't go for it.
You'll probably be a lot better off and safer off getting a chip from a reputable company through one of our many vendors.
You can contact them at sales@evosport.com or info@euroteckmotorsports.com
Just inquire about an ECU chip. I'm assuming it's for your 1993 R129, they might not have a wide selection as compared to a newer model car, but you'll know that what you get is legit if you do get a chip.

nope, i dont know if it is so much of a HP gain, but it is deff a tranny diffrence. the it shifts faster and when you kick it down, it will down 2 immediately if it can. i broke in the chip with my old fuel pumps and what not, so then when i i got the new ones, i put the stock chip in for a while then i put in the preformance one.
i have renntech in my E500 and the diffrence was just as much in that as it was with my SLs chip-

1995-E320 Coupe
Seller at E Bay say:
Here is what you get with this performance chip:
- 10% to 15% more HP and Torque Ft/lb
- Great acceleration at low RPM (1000-2000)
- Sharpens the throttle response much better than stock. More punching power in 2000-3000 RPM range and up.
- Removes Top Speed Limiter/Governor
- Removes the Upshift Delay during drive on cold start
- Smooth Idle
Above results from a 1995 SL500 with Premium 93 Octane fuel and K&N Air Filters
Like all performance chips, you need to use high premium fuel of 91 octane or higher
i do not trust cheap quality parts, you may lost your motor later!
he mentioned the the test was for a car with a K&N filter , the filter can give you a good amount of HP , maybe the 10% was bcz. of it
try to view the seller's other i tems & you'll find:
1994 1995 S500 Mercedes Performance ECU Tune Chip -W140
1992-95 Mercedes Performance Chip 400E 500E E420 E500
1992 1993 MERCEDES 600SEL V12 6.0L PERFORMANCE ECU CHIP
the same informations ! the same chart! for all motors :p
it's not COOL man ...

Sounds dodgy to me too...
Real chips cost upwards of 400/500 USD...and will never mess your engine up.
I have a superchip installed since 2 years now....
I have all the performance gains plus as you can see from other posts,a fantastic fuel consumption....That's what a good chip should do....
And pre electronic fuel injection engines do need some soldering to install the chip..It is not plug and play...You have to cut your old chip out of the ECU...solder a base for the new chip and then install...You will then be able to use plug and play to replace chips....

SL500 2001 Formula 1 Edition;
First, if this is the chip that Mark has (RedMongoose), I think it works pretty good.
I have 2001, and he has 1993, mine has sport suspension, and I think he does not (correct, Mark?). I followed him in a caravan through a bunch of twisties a couple of weeks ago, and he didn't seem to have any trouble keeping ahead of me in spite of the lack of sport suspension. (He really took off after my brakes started to fade, and considering that I still need to put my daughther through two more years of college, and not wanting to leave her with a small fortune in life insurance and no father, I decided to slow down a little.)
Anyways . . . I keep thinking about getting a chip for my 2001. It seems like the above-discussed procedures apply only to pre-302 horsepower engine (1995 and earlier? Or is it 1997?).
For those with the 302 HP engine, I think this link explains the way to go, but I am not sure, any input?
http://www.powerchipgroup.com/datash...13/Mer0111.pdf
In summary, you have to take your ECU out and send it to the chip company and let them replace the chip. Am I understanding this correctly?
Also, I still have 50,000 plus miles left on my StarMark warranty. Will the chip void the warranty? Anyone know?
Also, anyone have tips on how to get this past the smog people in Calif?

I have these chips in my 93 600 SL and they (600 needs 2 of them) do not repeat do not remove the cold upshift delay. I can not vouch for the top speed limiter as I dislike jail food. I also have the obliquitory (sp?) k&n's my seat of the pants dynojet model 1968 says about 15-30 hp gain. IMHO.

Chip on Ebay
I bought one of these and it has been sitting in my trunk since I received it. If I have a 1994 500 SL do I need to have it soldered in? is it hard to install? I allready have the dual K&N's.

Where is the chip installed, if it only takes twenty minutes I might try and install my self . That is if it is relatively easy.
Can I get any input, advice?

Check out Powerchips. I saw an advertisement in Porsche Excellence Magazine for them (they were promoting a chip for the turbo model). I doubt a "faulty" product would be advertised in a Porsche exclusive magazine. I checked them out online, and they offer detailed explanations of the chip. Being a fanatic (to some extent), I am always looking for power enhancements which are simple (the "practical" side kicks in) and provide impressive results. For my car, the upgrade offers a gain of roughly 30 hp and 30 tq. Currently, my extended warranty is active. However, in a year or so, when it expires, I'll try to go with the chip. Taking into consideration the detailed information of the website and the vehicles the product improves, it would be safe to say that the product looks solid. Worth a look.
Good Luck.
