How is the Climate Control Panel Removed

Could someone please tell me the secret of extracting the heater/ac panel from the console on a 1995 sl600?

Once it's out is there any common fixable problems?

Mine only routes air to the outside dash vents. Thank you, st

ONE OF THE VIDEOS WILL SHOW YOU HOW IT'S DONE.

I THINK YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE STEREO AND PUSH THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT OUT FROM BEHIND. THERE ARE NO SCREWS HOLDING IT IN I THINK.

Yes it is the one with the LED temp and many light on light off buttons, part #1298300585.

Thank you! once the radio is out, it's a easy push from behind.

I'm not real sure it's the control panel, when I select up or down it makes a snapping actuator noise up under the right hand dash. Other than defrost or side dash I can't get air to direct center or floor. All other buttons work correct.

I guess I'll get a chance to see what's up behind the passenger air bag?

one of my sl's has the exact same problem. if you find out whats wrong with yours plz post it. thanks. i was once told by a mercedes technician that it could be some control unit under the passenger side dash that has stopped working. he said that he has worked on a similar problem years ago. the unit is supposed to be a vacuum unit with about 8 pipes coming out of it i think. he said the unit is about 800 sterling which is about 1500 dollars. ouch.

A few months ago I had the control panel replaced in my 2001, because some of the LED's were shorted out (it was warranty work). Well, when I got it back, I couldn't get air to come out of the top vents.

I took it back to the dealer who told me the problem was that it needed to be programed. They programed it and then it worked fine.

(As a side note, I wonder how the hell these dealerships get away with the prices they charge and so forth. They rarely fix a problem correctly the 1st time, the service "advisors" don't return phone calls or follow up, and then one has to waste his or her time to bring the car back a 2nd time. You know, I don't mind paying top rate prices if I get top rate service. But some mechanic replacing a part and then not programming the computer seems to be the kind of carelessness that shouldn't even be thought of in the same moment with the outragous prices they charge.)

Dont feel like the Lone Ranger Joe, I just had my SL500 serviced and they did not reset the 10,000 mile register. Fortunately I was able to do it myself, however I will have to make another trip to the dealership to have the book signed. They forgot that too and it cost me a grand for service and repairs. Later, JOE
