2001 SL600, Was the Panoramic Roof Standard or an Option?

Need your advice.

I'm about to purchase a 2001 SL600.
Was the panoramic roof standard or an option?

I'm fairly sure that panoramic roofs came standard from 1996 or 1997-present.
I know for a fact though that in the 2001 model they were standard b/c on our '97 it came standard.

I think the 2001 129 had everything thrown at it, MB were worried that people would wait for the new 230 SL...

Panoramic roofs (the glass roofs) do not come standard on the car.

MBUSA does not mention that the pano roof is standard:

http://www.mbusa.com/pre-owned/2001/...egory=exterior

If you do a search on this forum, you can (hopefully) find a link somebody posted a while back that shows the year-to-year changes. That should answer your pano roof question pretty well.

Thanks to all who responded. I really appreciate your help.

It turns out that the panoramic roof was an option in 2001. I bought an SL600 with a metal roof. Bright Silver, Ash Exclusive Leather, 21,893 miles. Drives like a dream. Much better passing power than my 1996 SL500.

Thanks again!

I had an SL600 for 9 years and it served me well until a rash of problems got me back into Porsche. I always thought the performance of the SL600 was under-rated, straight line, it's night and day compated to the SL500. The only downside is that it makes the car nose-heavy and a bit ponderous on corners.

Nevvermind I'm wrong! I thought you meant just the hardtops. The hardtops do come standard on 01' models, but not the glass roofs. I've never seen an SL with a glass roof.
