swapping and alpine CD player for the Becker Grand Prix

Anybody ever replace the Becker radio with a regular head/amp all in one unit? I have the wiring diagram which indicates a tuner/amp in the trunk (which I have verified) and another amp in the passenger footwell, which I haven't looked for yet. I already figured out that I have to run an antenna lead to the dask (and buy a connector adaptor which Crutchfield didn't supply and doesn't carry). I can't figure out how to hook up the speakers without bypassing the two amps since the amp in the footwell looks like it gets its signal from the amp in the trunk, which gets its signal from the Becker head through the datacable. Looks like I will have to rewire all the speakers, which is not something I really want to do. The factory radio plays ok, but the tuner sucks (statickey sound, and the speakers are a little weak in the midrange and tinny at the highs. Decent bass though.
