Lost 4th gear.

Was on the freeway last night, and the 300sl-24 refused to shift up to 4th. Stayed in 3rd even as I let off the gas over 60mph. Coming off the accelerator, over the crest of a hill, it did shift up momentarily, but almost immediately dropped back down to 3rd.

The transmission has been taken apart recently, and all the worn parts replaced. Now this?

The car's front suspension's rattling like an angry, well, rattler, and I'm guessing the bushings are gone. The engine's pretty lifeless, and although the mechanic managed to sort out the idle problem, it doesn't quite feel like before.

Not to mention the sof top controller ceased existing four years ago. And plastic bits are breaking and falling apart. This car is starting to become a bit more trouble than it's worth. And it isn't worth much, really, cos no one wants to buy them...

Sorry about the rant. What do you think is wrong with the tranny?
