SL/R129: how come 00-02 SL didnt get shiftronic tranny?

how come 00-02 SL didnt get shiftronic tranny?

they all got shiftronic tranny for the MY00-02. Even the w202 in its final year got this upgrade. how come much higher level mb , SL didnt get shiftronic tranny ?
I have noticed most people dont cares about the shiftronic but i think its such a nice feature, its fun to up/down shift whenever you want and if the SL had, i would really consider buying a 600.
one things confuses me that...the C43 AMG got its tranny from SL 500..and the MY2000 C43 had shiftronic tranny...and SL didnt. I wonder if one can swap this tranny from a MY2000 C43.

In reality, they do have shiftronic. In addition to the standard Park, R, N, D, my SL (I'm sure the rest do too....) has 4, (which is drive), 3, 2, and 1...so it is shiftronic, its just labeled that....you can't push a button up or down to downshift or upshift, you have to move it from 1st to 2nd, etc, but its still the same thing. If what I said makes any sense...

.last model year for w202 C43 is 2000. it does have shiftronic tranny, teleaid, amg star 170 wheels from clk. only 25 was shipped to usa, they didnt even listed them on the product line.
there is even one listed in autotrader for sale, you can pm the seller to confirm the tranny.

For 2000, the C43 AMG's performance characteristics were further enhanced by an automatic transmission with TouchShift technology. TouchShift allows the driver to manually downshift and upshift by moving the shift lever left or right of the Drive position.
Larger (17" monoblock alloy) wheels were also introduced on the 2000 C43 AMG.
and we all know that C43 has sl500 tranny but maybe not for the my2000, someone can correct me on this.

Yes you can downshift as well. You're correct it goes D, 4, 3, 2, 1, with D being 5. But you can definetly downshift - I control my gears all the time, it is probably 50:50 ratio of "my own shifting" / leaving it on auto.
