Installing Struts and Shocks on '91 500SL - Difficult?

I have a 1991 500SL with the ORIGINAL Struts and Shocks on the car.

It is obviously way past time to change them so I am wondering if this is a DIY project or should be left for a professional. I do not have any spring compressor, if needed, but am wondering what is involved in this process and if one is even needed.

Also, I have been told that there is a 5th (?) Steering shock that should be changed...true?

Thoughts?
