129 SL Antenna...has anyone--
experienced a failure on a 97/98 SL with the combo MB cell and radio antenna? Mine works fine, but the mast is broken, and dealer tells me that there is no replacement mast available for that antenna. There is, of course, a complete antenna available that will fix the problem, but unfortunately it sells for about $600, uninstalled.
Question: has any replaced a mast on this type antenna and,
2: Is there any reason that these antennas cannot be replaced with the old style steel mast antennas? Since the MB phone functiion is useless, wouldn't it be OK? Makes sense to me, but hey, I'm not that smart.

You can get the atenna from a non-dealer for under $300 on the internet if you look around. I can't remember where I got a price quote from -- but I do remember getting a quote -- I decided to not replace it when I got Sirus -- I don't listen to regular radio anymore.

antenna mast
I found an OE mast on line for around $87.00. Aftermarket mast are much cheaper but may need some modification to work properly.

re antenna
I literally just had mine replaced this week, it was under 250 installed. i broke mine off a few months ago and have been putting it off.
R&H Mercedes in reisterstown, MD.
They could probably send you one to put on yourself.
I beleive the antenna is around $150 or so. THis is the whole kit.

Yes, OE mast is available...it's
140-827-0001. About $80 ish. Works just right.
