Whats a 99 SL 7.4 Renntech worth?

Anyone have any idea what a 1999 SL 7.4 Renntech with 22,000 miles would be worth? 575 bhp this car has the full 75k Renntech treatment.

If the owner is in no hurry to sell, I'm sure it could ring in around $50,000. This is assuming the car is original, for the last one I have seen on eBay had "racing seats" and a roll cage setup. An original example, especially at that mileage, is a niche market car, and very rare.

I believe it was a '97 model. White over black/grey interior. Had an audio upgrade as well. In fact, if I recall correctly, someone posted about purchasing it. Not sure what he paid, but the ad was around that price until it was taken down.

I wonder if any have changed hands lately and for how much? I may have an opportunity to acquire one and would like to know where I need to start my negotiation process from.

TIA

We haven't discussed price yet and I would like to pay as little as possible without completely insulting him. But it seems like starting at 30 K is reasonable.

Yes he is............and the car is perfect.
I have already driven it and it was silly, with the old ESP on it bogged under WOT and when I shut the ESP off and nailed it I was sideways for about 30 feet! Definitely a thrill ride, this example also has a LSD which George at Renntech says is quite rare.

if he is the origonal owner, then u might want to take in conciteration that he spent 200K+ on this car, so you might not get as good of a deal...... im going to say.. that he will ask 65, and settle for 59

Good point but I don't see myself paying more than 40K for it as I already have a decent stable. Plus I haven't seen anyone paying more than 40K for one recently.

The major problem with buying a car from an original owner is that they spent the big bucks on it, and more often than not, they are not very realistic as to the true value of their car, and the loss that they have taken. Some people like that will "sell" their cars for years on end, because they can't face the actual value.

If you look on ebay, you see it all of the time.

ANother car I was into for a while was the Lincoln Mark VIII. Now, for the past 2 years, there has been a guy trying to sell his 1993 mark VIII with 10k miles for over $13,000. It just keeps getting relisted again, and again, and again. He just can't accept that even with the low mileage, that it is worthless.

Then you have another guy who has been trying to sell a "Spring Feature" LSC (with original gold paint) for $25,000. Again, it has been listed int he autotrader for years on end. Guy just can't accept that the car is worth next to nothing.

You can also find people who have sub 5k LSCs that they want $35-38k for. Again, seeing the same ones for years now.

It's pretty damn sad, but it's hard for a person to accept that they took a $160k bath on something that they barely even looked at for the past several years, let alone actually drove. Especially since Renntech is so good at selling people on the idea that their car is going to be worth so much more with the conversion done.

I bought the 97 renntech that was on ebay last march. I paid 43k for it. Worth every penny. Fastest car I have ever driven. For 43k, there is nothing that would compare to the renntech.

There is a 1998 on ebay right now. The bid is at $25,000 US.

Its mileage figure is questionable, it seems.

This thread deals with the 1998:
